He's probably the only real and available choice though isn't he. I mean who else in their right mind would take on the job at the moment?

Maybe you should read this. The never played beautiful football Rafa thing is a myth created by the english media.

I didn't want Kenny in the summer. Felt he could only fail in the circumstances and didn't want him to damage his reputation. Now though, he can only do better than Roy, so it's a totally different decision. We need him.

They'll be more relevant than Roy's 30 year old tactics.

We totally outplayed the best teams in the world playing fantastic football. We played them off the pitch.

Probably only Barcelona didn't park the bus when they played against us at Anfield, why?

They feared our attacking play and knew that they would be beaten if they opened up any space. Yep, they feared our attacking play. They didn't fear our defensive game, they feared our attacking play and the only way to cope was to park the bus.

Attack us at Anfield back then would have been suicide.

Why would i want to read some random article when i have been watching Rafa's team for about a decade now. Its not a witchhunt from the press or an agenda. His teams don't play beautiful football, that is not what Rafa is known for and not what his strengths as a coach are. Is this not common knowledge among all football fans about Benitez's style of management.

He makes his teams so technical and extremely difficult to beat, at Valencia he made an already top side into a nightmare to play against and beat. We never played beautiful football under Rafa, far far from it. Not his style and i suggest instead of incessantly attempting to drive home this Rafa bombardment, you check out the football we have played in his time here. and in his managerial career thus far, it'll show your way way off the mark.

Functional,Tactical,Technical,Solid,Rigid but no where near beautiful football , i don't know what your trying to push but it is not true.

Did we ever play "beautiful football" under Paisley??

Quite often I went and watched his sides steamroller the opposition by pressing them high up the pitch and almost boring them into submission*

The only LFC side that consistantly played attacking / beautiful football was Kenny's side in 1987-1989

                    * for the record I think Paisley is the best manager we have had bar none but there is a lot of nostalgia in the talk of our football in days gone by

Rafa's Valencia team played some of the most beautiful football ever seen more or less the way Barcelona now play.

That is called fantastic football but Rafa's Valencia playing the same kind of football isn't?

Barcelona more or less copied Rafa's style of play but with better players. High pressure on the ball, quick pass and move style football and using very attacking fullbacks.

You have clearly not seen that much of Rafa's Valencia. Team after team have now copied his style of play because it was so effective.

There was a game at Anfield in his first season (might have been West Brom), when we played some really great football. I distinctly remember Rafa afterwards saying that was how he wanted us to play

But it very rarely materialised again, maybe on the odd occasion (particularly in the year we came 2nd)

Dont know why Rafa actually never re-produced maybe it was down to lack of funds, I dont know

Rafa to me produced a functional side that was superb positionally and tactically where he fell down was he probably should have let them off the leash more

His basic starting tactics were spot on, keep things tight, press the opposition high up the pitch, controlling the game etc...

Where he fell down was converting his players use of the ball in an attacking sense. If he could have replicated the movement and passing fromsome of his Valencia days (and that West Brom game I mentioned earlier) then his reign would have been so much different

Twice as relevant, or should it be half?

Getting back to the question of the thread we're talking about Roy here and I think we can safely say he will not be managing Liverpool Football Club at the end of December.
Now I know Kenny has been out of the game for quite some time but for me put Kenny in charge with Thommo as no 2, now this I can say the team might not play like
Barcelona under those two but it certainly won't roll over and die as we've been witnessing of late. You know, most managers that have left this great club have, no matter
how bad their liverpool sides have played, left us with some great memories (even Souness won an FAC). Sadly Roy you will be the first Liverpool Manager in my life anyway
that will leave me with no lasting memory, have some sort of dignity and go because it could get messy.

At moment we're not walking through storm, we're walking through a bloody hurricane.

Unfortunately, i see nothing that makes me confident of that statement being true.

I think for our last 12 or so league (and European games) in 2008, we played some absolutely magnificent fluent football. Something clicked and it was just perfect, I'm sure that was ultimately how Rafa wanted us to play.

It's very perfectionist and very difficult to implement. Only a coach like him could get right though.
                                Are we winning?
