Roy is just a stop gap, always was.

@henrywinter Hodgson needs more time yet you bring up Benitez's dead father when we finished second? Maybe you're a little xenophobic?
        Are we winning?

Winter is defending Roy and he is getting stick from LFC fans, Tomkins did the same throughout the entire season and defended Rafa at every turn and he got stick from LFC fans. We aren't a happy bunch thats for sure.

Think some journo just don't know when to shut their traps, Winter and Tomkins included.

A three year contract for a stop gap seems like madness to me. I think the board genuinely thought he was good enough (as did the press). It looks like they were badly wrong.

That was one of the worst cunt's tricks I've ever seen. He lauded Tony Pulis for rushing to their game v Villa on the very day his mother had died. And yet not long before had stuck the knife into Benitez for missing his Dad's funeral to carry on working for LFC. He's a total cunt.

Huge cheer as Pulis walks out for 2nd half. Incredible devotion to Stoke on day his mother passed away. Salutes fans. Real edge to `Delilah'

Does it matter that this footballing obsessive seems to show no interest whatsoever in his players as human beings? After all, this is the manager who stayed on for the 2005 Club World Championship in Tokyo despite learning that his father had passed away back in Spain.
              Massive cunt.

One of the most disgusting articles I have ever read. Winter should apologize to Rafa for that.

Well thats the Liverpool board for you, hence why we all hate their ****ing guts. Can't see them admitting a mistake either and sacking Roy, the best interest of LFC is not first priority to these people as far as i can see, don't trust any of them.

                      A three year stop gap

Of course they thought he was good enough.

Can you explain how Roy Hodgson came to be appointed as Liverpool Football Club's new manager?

The Board appointed Christian Purslow, the Managing Director, and Kenny Dalglish to oversee the process and do the interviews.

We had a long list of potential candidates and a number of telephone interviews were done to begin with to narrow the list down.

Christian and Kenny agreed a shortlist of five and then face-to-face interviews took place with those candidates.

They recommended two in the end, which last weekend was really for myself and Christian to have a run through and we chose Roy as a result of that.

What sort of qualities were the club looking for in a new manager?

It was a whole range of things, but it was looking for experience, experience in a multicultural and multinational background and someone who had seen it all before, in a sense.

We weren't looking so much for somebody who was just emerging, we wanted somebody who could, first and foremost, command the respect of the players, who had a good track record and could take us forward from where we are now.

A number of names were linked with the position. Was Roy always the club's first choice?

We didn't start with a first choice. Roy was actually the first one we interviewed, but we didn't start with a first choice.

We wanted a proper, professional selection process - draw up a list, work through the list and interview them all. You never know what can come out of interviews. Some outperform your expectations and others underperform your expectations.

He happened to be the first one we spoke to and turned out to be our first choice.

What can you tell us about the impression Roy made on the board?

He made an excellent impression. He came across as extremely thoughtful, prepared and thorough.

He wanted to focus on how he could get more out of the existing players. His focus wasn't on 'how much money can I have?' or 'I want to bring this person in or that person in' - he was really focused on 'I believe, and I've got a track record that demonstrates it, that I can take the existing players, get much better performances out of them and buy constructively to build for a better future.'

Whose final decision was it for the manager and was it a unanimous one?

It was a unanimous decision but it was a Board responsibility. So the full Board, which is the six of us - the three Executives, myself and the two owners.

Was Kenny Dalglish part of the decision?

He wasn't part of the decision, he was part of the recommendation team and he recommended Roy.

Does the club need to sell players to pay off debt?

No it doesn't, I want to be absolutely clear about that because I've heard a lot of rumours. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we have no need to sell any players to pay off the debt.

If we were to sell anyone, then the money would be reinvested in the squad.

nothing wrong with diverse views, although i long for the day when we can all unite under one manager, not worry about off the pitch politics and just concentrate on the game of football. Been a long time since that was the case, a stain on our tradition and history IMO. Hicks and Gilette might aswell just have took a LFC jersey, put it on the ground and pissed all over it.

@henrywinter I would love to give you a crunching two footed tackle with De Jong finishing you off when you squirm, shouting out for "OWEN"

                                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
