Johnson was the correct buy and I think he would have eradicated flaws in his game with Benitez. You don't have a lot of players around, especially with his flair going forward. £17m was the correct price for a player of that ilk.

If after two years there wasn't any improvement and all the coaching in the world didn't change anything, then there would have been a case to criticise him. He was one of our best players yesterday, which says it all.
    Are we winning?

Poor management is a ridiculous excuse for certain players just not pulling their weight and underperforming, common mate seriously? Johnson has never been a good defender throughout his entire career but has always been excellent going forward, he has 7 great games at start of his LFC career and since then if everyone is truly honest, he has been very very average and for the price of him?? WTF!!

Whether Roy or Rafa Johnson has massively underperformed and needs to get his finger out of his arse and up his game, like many of the other players.
      Spot on mate

So it's Roy's fault that Johnson is thick as a plank and makes about ten mistakes in EVERY match? **** me lads, seriously. He's just not very good.

Some people on this thread are being utter clueless idiots. "Johnson is ****" blah ****ing blah.

He's a class player, start of last season, he was excellent for us - he's going through a torrid time now, for whatever reason - as are the whole team basically.

Anyone who thinks he is ****, hasnt got a clue about football and should really sign up for a tiddlywinks forum instead of est.

The fact that Rudo and danperkins both agree on the idea that Johnson's not good enough, tells you all you need to know. I'd offer him a new contract based on that alone.

What exactly does this flair of his going forward produce though?

You often see Johnson beat 2 or 3 players, get into a god position for a cross or shot which inevitably leads to nothing.

And a few months before that we had a team that were very nearly Champions, now look at us.

              You're wrong. He's ****.

Stick a workhorse like Kuyt in front of him and tell him to push up, and he's a half decent wing back. Tell him to be a right back, and he'll get skinned all day long. For a £17m player, he's ****.

And you think that is down to Johnson?

                More ridiculous nonsense.

Are you and Perkin's in a competition?

Roy has been awful that is clear but people blaming Roy for Johnson's poor tie at LFC is very unfair and blatantly not true.

He isnt remotely ****. I'll grant you defending isnt his meat and drink, like it is for Carra. But he's good enough and as a footballer, technically speaking, he's a quality player. He offers a huge amount of creativity in wide areas going forward, and as part of a well-drilled, organised defence, he is good enough.

He's playing utter **** now, much like most of our team. Something's not right with him and i still wouldnt be surprised if he's been upto no good and is just waiting for the tabloids to expose whatever's happened.

He clearly isnt **** though. That's pure bollocks.

He was arguably our most potent attacking force yesterday. He needs coaching, but most importantly, he needs a system which works when he's marauding upfront. You can't annihilate this side of his game, it's where his natural skills lie.

As some posters have said, he's not playing to the best of his ability at the moment and most of the team is guilty of that. If he finds himself in a good position then there's no player around to pass to, what will he do?

I'll do that if you and Rudo can keep it mildly intelligent.

We paid that amount of money because Johnson was English, and thats it.

In his time at LFC he had been sub standard, i think he has great attributes going forward although we have only seen glimpses but it is abundantly clear that the lad cannot defend its a very valid point and has been proven throughout his career, especially in his time at LFC, his positional sense makes Djimi Troares look like Franco Baresi's.

Much better suited to RM IMO.
