Okay so Pennant starts doing the business week in week out, and becomes almost undroppable, what happens to Gerrard. Get's his move back to the middle, who gets dropped?

Based on ITVs highlights package, he looked like he had a good game. If he can play well week in week out then I am prepared to forgive him for being gash of late.

It's a debate I'd love to be having in a few weeks, but let's save it for then huh? If it happens...

If Gerrard moves back into the middle, Alonso is dropped, as he's just not doing the business at the moment.

            Indeed.

Well played Jermaine. Last season he did hold the record for accurate crosses, and came up trumps on that pro zone thing that Rafa plays with all day. Who knows, he may come good. I'll wait until he performs consistently though before getting too excited.

Well said. Certainly the low-key occasion will have helped yesterday, but the potential to step-up is there and hopefully will come, given some patience.

I've been seriously pissed off with Pennant all season but rightly so, it has always stemmed from his gash performances rather than just a belief he is ****.

The way he played last night was supoib, we couldn't have asked for much more. I think if he uses that performance to give him confidence then he can start to look like a real outlet for us. Just as a striker snatches at chances when low on confidence or nervous, you could see Pennant had been that little bit indecisive all season. Never seen someone slip up the number of times he has, Christ knows how much that must've made it worse!

Some of his crossing was really really good last night, and that's the one high expectation I've always had of him. Really hope this is a sign of things to come as him being in good form can make a genuine difference to the way we play. We need his width. Plus it would allow Stevie to go central

His crossing last night was spot on. Even if they weren't pinpoint, they were all dangerous, at least.

Also noticed how much he likes the give and go (which we don't really seem to play for the most part), but looked a lot more comfortable and composed on the ball than he has since the first couple of games we played this season

Pennant was good last night, more of the same is needed.

He's been harshly criticised by fans in my book. I'll be honest, I don't rate him as good enough for LFC. He's no Aaron Lennon or SWP. However, you can't expect him to come to LFC and automatically produce the goods when he needs time to settle in. Not only that he only plays every other game or so due to Rafa's rotation policy.

As I've said I'm no massive Pennant fan but like all new players at least give the lad a season to find his feet before you sharpen your knife. all LFC players deserve that much.

And didn't Rafa ask him to get into the box more often, a bit like SG does, so hogging the byline & crossing the ball cannot be combined with cutting in and getting into the box more often, maybe he hasn't yet got to grips with what is being asked of him, and most certainly with SG on the pitch, as wouldn't they be trying to do similar things, albeit from different positions, but is the expectation the same? Pennant has to think more when playing for us, and who knows, maybe that hurts his head too much and he is still confused as to what he is doing!!
