It's one of the biggest myths out there that Gerrard is a top class central midfielder. He never delivered week in week out in that position.

His best years come when Rafa first played him in a free right sided position and when the same manager played him in a free position behind Torres.

Gerrard isn't good enough defensively to play as a central midfielder. He is a top class attacking player but not more than average defensively.

Even if for no other reason, I think Cole deserves a crack in that position. Take you're pick, Gerrard right or centreal.

Maybe you failed to notice , but we've been wank this season with Gerrard in the middle and cole on the left. Don't see it as much of a gamble tbh.
