    Hodgson on Agger

    Hodgson on Agger

    From the daily post

ROY HODGSON’S relationship with Daniel Agger has become further strained with the Liverpool manager revealing his frustration at the defender’s fitness.

Agger will be absent for Sunday’s Merseyside derby at Goodison after aggravating a groin problem while on international duty for Denmark in midweek.

The centre-back was named in his country’s starting line-up for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Cyprus on Tuesday night despite having missed Liverpool’s previous two games through injury.

However, Agger limped off after just 39 minutes to leave a clearly unimpressed Hodgson to question the decision to play.

“Agger missed two weeks with the injury he picked up in the Sunderland game but he made a miraculous recovery in order to go and play for Denmark where he got injured again,” said the Liverpool manager.

“I don’t know what the state of play is going to be for him yet.”

Since Hodgson’s arrival, Agger has fallen behind Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel in the centre-back pecking order and has recently been usurped from his makeshift left-back role by summer signing Paul Konchesky.

And the Dane risked the wrath of the Anfield manager after appearing to query Liverpool’s style of football, although he later claimed the quotes were taken out of context.

Hodgson received a mixed injury bulletin yesterday ahead of the weekend derby by revealing both Fernando Torres and Konchesky will be available.

However, the Liverpool manager confirmed Dirk Kuyt will be out for around a month after suffering ankle ligament damage while playing for Holland on Tuesday.

Torres pulled out of Spain’s recent internationals after picking up an adductor strain early on in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at home to Blackpool a fortnight ago, while Konchesky has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury.

And the Liverpool manager said: “Konchesky has made a good recovery as has Fernando Torres so all being well we can welcome those two back.

“We get two good ones back, but lose a good one in Kuyt.

I've mentioned in the past that I've been unhappy with Hodgson's treatment of Agger. I will go a step further and say his latest comments in the press are disgraceful. The daft prick doesn't even pick Agger on a regular basis when fit anyway.

He is beginning to isolate his players. I think there is going to be a showdown soon and if the board does not support him, he is gone.

If John Henry wants to engage the fans, he's going to get some seriously negative responses to "What do you think of the manager?" WTF was that quote supposed to be?

He is our best defender BUT the man is always injured, he can not be relied on.

Our central defence needs a total rebuild

          Carra - Ageing
          Skrtel - Inconsistent
          Agger - Always Injured
Greek - but also ageing and slow
          We come not to play.

If he really said "a miraculous recovery" then Hodgson can f*ck off now, let alone after tomorrow when I fully expect another abject performance.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Shawcross got a mention again - can't help but think that'd be another Roy style signing.

****ing Roy needs to have a word with himself. He pisses me off no end. Agger is our best defender but Roy doesn't like him because he gets forward and doesn't just huff the ball up field.

I think after talking to the fans, Roy and also reading some of Roys interviews enry will quickly realise that Roy is a loser.

I dont even want to think of who Roy will sign in January as it will be totally uninspiring. Carlton cole for £16m most likely.

Fantastic example of that famous man management style.

No way Roy should be saying inflammatory things like that in interviews, but I understand his frustrations with Agger, who also needs to learn when to button it.

Agger gets forward instead of sticking to the Hodgson plan of the long huff ball and 442.

Hangs another player out to dry after doing it to the whole team after Northampton. God I pray this guy is gone before January, he is capable of doing so much damage to this club its frightening.

Wouldn't say he's class, he's good player but besides being a good player he along with Aurelio are our most unreliable players since Kewell in terms of injuries/lack of fitness.

Oh and right enough, why the **** is he out of contention for us, then when his Country are in action, he's fit all of a sudden???
