Roy's experience (and wisdom - at 63) stood him in good stead actually. He's managed to bring 95% of LFC's fanbase to agree unanimously that he should be sacked. Fantastic.
    Are we winning?

There is a lot of ****e spoken about Rafa and Roy.

Roy's record despite what many journos and pundits say isnt very good over his 35 years as a manager. His trophy haul is pretty poor, only a couple I think from memory, Danish cup and Swedish charity shield?

For a club like Fulham, West Ham, Sunderland etc he would be a decent choice, but he wasnt ever and certainly isnt now a good chice for us.

      Rafa, well I would compare our starting 11 even today to anyone in this league;
      Pepe, Johnson, Carra, Skrtel, Agger
      Gerrard Merelies
      Kuyt Cole Jova
      Torres
for me thats easily comparable to

vd sar, nevile, Ferdinand, vidic, evra
      fletcher park scoles nani
      berbatov rooney

      or
      cech ferreria terry alex cole
      essien lampard mikel maoluda
      drogba kalou

its below this we have fallen away, we havent had the kind of back up you need, is rafa to blame? I think he has to take some of the blame, but it clearly is with the lack of money given to him, you cannot compete on £10mm net per year on transfers, its impossible.

I dont think Rafa should have gone, no way. It would have been interesting to see him with the kind of money he got in 06/07 when he did spend bigger amounts giving better results in quality.

So not quite so bad as you make out but at the same time not as good as many pundits would have us believe either.

The other two teams are much more balanced though. I think that is the problem - with the likes of Riera flouncing off and Aquilani not getting fit at the end of last season we had a squad from which it was hard to make a convincing, balanced first XI and which lacked depth. That said there were players like Insua, Johnson and Aquilani who had more to offer and used correctly may have helped plug some of the gaps. Rather than bringing in the type of players we needed Roy purchased players similar to those we had and ones who made everything worse (I'm thinking Mr Poulsen if there is any doubt). He left all of the biggest problems unaddressed.

I can't bother reading the whole 11 pages so i just read the last two to get a bit of feeling where the debate is going but it's the same one that's been going on for a while in virtually every thread on here..so i'll just add my humble opinion

One poster said that sacking Rafa was a disaster - i disagree, hiring Roy has turned into a disaster, parting with Rafa at the time i feel was the right thing to do. No doubting he's one of the better managers around, but he was running into blind alleys, and if rumours a to be belived, him staying would have meant at least Gerrard leaving.

I'll always support whoever's in charge of the club, well in Roy's case i'll restrain myself from insulting him etc. The man is clearly out of his depth, and i thnk he knows it. The sooner he leaves the better, but we have to choose carefully who we appoint, because if we ****up again and have to sack the new manager in a short time the unstability could throw the club into more turmoil.

I've no idea who'd be the best candidate, but i feel that changing he way the club is run(hiring a Director of football) could cause a bit more stabillity and a long-term plan of how the club should grow.

Kenny i feel is the best possible candidate for the role.
