In Premier league football at the top, you either move forward as a club or you move backwards. You never stand still. If you stand still and write off a season, you will end up spending three to four years playing catch up as you move backwards at a rate significantly faster than the rate you move forwards. That is the biggest issue with this season.
I am hoping that NESV are actively looking for a manager to replace Hodgson as unless if we wait till the summer the affordable margin for error for the next manager will decrease a lot. One of the biggest issue we have had as a club is that our managers needed to get every decision right, if they had to win the league. That’s why Houllier and Rafa failed at the final hurdle. We don’t want to be in a similar situation again especially the level of reaching the top 4.
The only time I can advocate and accept do nothing and stand still till the end of the season as an option is when we have a seriously promising manager who is finding his feet in the league or we have a group of talented youngsters who are finding their feet there is organic growth in the level of performance and will deliver in the future. We have neither.

if NESV are going to get rid of roy then they would realistically have to do it now. the new manager would need the month of december and some on january to assess the squad and bring in his own players ( unless it was kenny who already knows the club / players ).
if they dont sack him right now, then he will be here for january IMO in which case he will buy more players and they will have no option but to give him more time to get it right - in which cas eit will be summer at the very earliest before roy is gone.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I'm not usually one for posting the medias perceptions of games but they have, got it in the main , pretty much right on these in my opinion and its only that (my opinion that is)

FWIW............
The editor on the Liverpool rumours site says thus:
NESV do want a new manager.
NESV have already interviewed people who are out of a job and have decided to not pursue any of them.
One of the persons they spoke to was Pellegrini. They decided his grasp of English wasn't good enough.
NESV have let the players know that Roy will be replaced.
As the person they want is employed, it will likely be at the end of the season when we change the manager. He doesn't know who they want, or if they have identified the man they want.Forwards.......

This makes complete sense apart from the bit about telling the players. You wouldn't undermine the rest of the season by having players not playing for the current manager, and all John Henry's talk has been about the current players pulling together and playing for the club. Wouldn't surprise me if they had someone in mind though. Villas Boas?Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostFWIW............

The club told Gerrard & Carragher months before they appointed BenitezOriginally posted by calvoboy View PostThis makes complete sense apart from the bit about telling the players. Besides which you couldnt undermine Hodgson anymore than he has already done himself

Did they? I wasn't aware of that. I knew they'd talked to them about appointing him before the deal was done, but thought it was a quick word once houllier was gone rather than months before.Originally posted by Lecter View PostThe club told Gerrard & Carragher months before they appointed Benitez

It also makes you understand why Torres said that all the players are behind the manager. They clearly been told that Roy will be out and replaced by someone after this season but not before then whatever the results.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a
