If Roy is still here come May and we have failed to get into Champions league. We would have wasted the best part of 2 years, this year and next year, as any competent manager would have either given the team a complete over haul and/ or moved the club forward. A new manager would now have to do both now in the current climate and come May it maybe without crucially key players whom are vital to the clubs future sucess. If he goes before January, there just might be a fighting chance. That is all from me in this thread, until Roy goes straight out the door never to come back again.

He must be allowed to be THE boss and be allowed to be ruthless. That counts to every manager that takes over after Roy.
Agree with that. Would love to see Carra ****ed off along with Hodgson, they'd make a good pair at Fulham.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Liverpool FC away form causing Roy Hodgson sleepless nights

                Roy Hodgson, Liverpool FC
ROY HODGSON admits Liverpool’s dreadful Premier League away form is leaving him with sleepness nights.

Hodgson’s men’s travel sickness continued at the weekend when they slumped to a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Newcastle United.

It was Liverpool’s sixth defeat in nine away league games this season with the Anfield outfit having taken just five points from a possible 27 on their travels – their worst tally at this stage of a campaign since 1962.

Liverpool were on course for at least a point after Kevin Nolan’s first-half strike was equalised by Dirk Kuyt shortly after half-time.

But poor defending at a set-piece allowed Joey Barton to restore Newcastle’s advantage with 10 minutes remaining before Andy Carroll slammed home a third during injury time.

And Hodgson, for whom the injured pair Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher were both sorely missed, reveals that the decisive second Magpies goal will keep him awake in the early hours.

“It will be great to have Steven back next week, but even he could not have done anything about the second goal,” said the Liverpool manager. “And that is what is going to haunt me when I ride home, and when I wake up in the middle of the night.

“That has cost us any chance of getting anything.

“I came into this job to try and win every game and I can’t say it’s harder or easier than I thought - I just need to keep working hard. It’s the job I signed on to do.

“Do I wake up in the middle of the night often? You find me a football manager who’s worthy of his sword, who doesn’t wake up in middle of night after matches, and I’ll give you a good headline.”

Hodgson admits Barton’s goal dealt a massive psychological blow to his players and warns there is no magic formula to repair their fragile mental strength away from Anfield.

“The major problem was the second goal, which was an unbelievably bad goal to give away,” said the manager. “That’s the bottom line.

“When you concede a goal like that, it’s going to have a major effect on the team’s confidence.

“We weren’t looking that troubled at 1-1, we weren’t exactly being smashed or bombarded.

Newcastle had not put us under massive pressure but when you concede like that, you can almost see in the faces of the players, ‘Whoops, here we go again’.

“How can we change that? You’ve just got to win, it’s as simple as that. There is no magic formula.

“You have to play better than we did in the second half – if we had played for 90 minutes in exactly the same way, and passed the ball in the same way, and kept our shape as we did in the first half, we would have had a good chance.”

Newcastle had endured a week of turmoil after popular manager Chris Hughton was surprisingly sacked to be replaced by Alan Pardew.

There were demonstrations outside the ground before the match against Magpies owner Mike Ashley, but the home supporters departed all smiles following Liverpool’s heaviest defeat at St James’ Park in 17 years. But Hodgson does not believe his team missed a chance to make the most of Newcastle’s predicament.

“I don’t think in those terms or go into that type of analysis,” said the manager. “Thinking about the opposition’s state of mind is not my business, I just prepare my team in the best way I can and never allow myself to think in those terms.”

David Ngog is likely to miss Wednesday’s Europa League dead rubber against FC Utrecht after receiving stitches in a cut just above his eye on Saturday which forced him to leave the field to be replaced by Ryan Babel.

“Hopefully David will be okay for the Fulham game,” added Hodgson.

“It might be difficult for me to play him on Wednesday against Utrecht but I don’t think it will keep him out of next Saturday’s game.”

Roy Hodgson has warning for Liverpool FC
Dec 13 2010 by Ian Doyle, Daily Post

ANGRY Roy Hodgson admits Liverpool will struggle to finish in the top half of the Premier League table unless they address their poor away form.

Hodgson’s men slumped to their sixth top-flight defeat out of nine of their travels this season when they lost 3-1 at Newcastle United on Saturday.

Goals in each half from Scouse duo Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton were followed by a late strike by Andy Carroll to earn Alan Pardew victory in his first game in charge of the Magpies.

Dirk Kuyt had levelled for Liverpool shortly after the break but they were overpowered in the closing stages to leave Hodgson unhappy.

“I don’t know what the right word is to describe how I’m feeling,” said the Anfield manager. “But at the moment I’m extremely disappointed and rather angry we couldn’t produce a better performance.

“But I’ll have to get over it. If you want to work in football you have to get over these things.

“Our away form continues to be very, very poor and it’s something we need to do something about. If we’d played the whole of 90 minutes as we played the first 45 minutes maybe I wouldn’t be as disappointed as I am.

“For a team that wants to be in the top half of the table, our away form is not good enough.”

Hodgson admits he had expected his team to go on and win the game after Kuyt’s 49th-minute equaliser.

“We started brightly,” he said. “The first half was quite good even though we were a goal down to one of their rare opportunities.

“When we equalised I thought we’d continue playing as we did in the first half, but for some unknown reason we didn’t play anywhere as near as well in the second half and then we conceded a goal that was a comedy of errors for 2-1.

“I thought we were the better team for long periods in the first half. When we got back to 1-1 I had visions we would go on to win the game, but that wasn’t to be.”

Newcastle captain Nolan netted his first goal against his boyhood club since scoring for Bolton Wanderers in a 1-1 draw at Anfield on New Year’s Day in 2002.

“It’s been nine years since I scored against Liverpool,” said Nolan. “It was brilliant. I was 19 when it happened and it was a fantastic feeling.

“Newcastle are now my team and I would prefer us to be above them.”

Newcastle had seen popular manager Chris Hughton controversially sacked earlier in the week but Nolan revealed the squad are fully behind replacement Pardew.

“After what happened to Chris on Monday, all our focus was on getting the points and getting back to winning ways,” he added. “It was very disappointing what happened, we had a few days to get over it, but life goes on and the show must go on.

“I spoke to Chris the day after. He was a very disappointed man. He just said thank you very much and I thanked him. He gave me the captaincy so there is a lot of affection there for him. But he is a big boy, he knows the game, what happens.

“We all have our own opinions on what happened. The owners have the final say at this club and we have to respect that. We wanted to make sure we put on a performance and showed what this club means to us.

“Any talk of revolt towards Alan is nonsense. He is our gaffer and we have to work under him.”

I'd respect Roy more if he changed the words "wants to" into the word "should". He really does have the wrong mentality. Hurry up NESV. This season is shot but get something in place for next season.

Even if we arent good enough to get top 4 it isnt something he should be openly admitting

His dampening/ dumbing down of expectation is ****ing pathetic

Whats good enough for Fulham isnt what is good enough for LFC

Why should I back a man I have no belief in?
Will he win us the league? Will he ****e !!!
Will he win us the CL? Dont be ****in daft !!!
Will we be in the CL next season? Not unless another manager comes in asap !!!!

He's doing one thing well though he's breaking our records all over the shop the last time Liverpool where on - goal difference at this stage in the season was 57 years ago.

The last time we where in the relegation zone like he had us there a few weeks ago was also 57 years ago.

We are 17th in the away form league table http://www.statto.com/footbal....way
This manager cannot win away from home, the english manager who knows the league inside out but cant win away from home why?
Because he's totally clueless and sets the team up first and foremost not to get beat and play for a draw.

Well Im sorry but its not good enough for my club, we expect to be challenging for every trophy thats on offer, I dont give a rats arse if everyone hates us I prefer it that way instead we are being told other clubs like us now that nasty fat Spanish waiter has gone.

Wonderfull good old uncle Roy has friends everywhere whys that? Because other managers are guarenteed 3 points against him when we turn up at their gaff, Mr Alex Ferguson loves him, why? Because he is not and never will be a threat to him, never in a million years.

His whole out look screeches negativity, his demeanour is of a mediocre manager who cant believe his luck that he's been given the job at Britains most successfull club, he trys as much as he can to lower our expectations well I am not having it, I dont care he's making us a laughing stock no fears us any more and god forbid Blackpool could even do the double over us since when should we feel fear of Blackpool turning us over twice in a season?

Since we have a manager so far out of his depth that he's drowning and taking us down with him, steady the ship Iceberg ahead !!!

NESV need to act immediatly otherwise I question why they bought the club in the first place, our best players will leave if he stays Nando & Pepe wont stick around to be turned into english players, no CL for the forseeable future if he stays he will take us back so many years we will end up also rans like Villa, Blackburn & Everton mark my words !!!!

John Henry said we are winners, and we like to win about the Redsox, well Mr Henry our manager is making us look like total losers and if you want a return on your investment in the near future do the right thing for my beloved club before its to late.

Liverpool have taken just five points from a possible 27 on their travels – their worst tally at this stage of a campaign since 1962.

Get this fraud out of our club !!!!
