Didn't Rafa want Parry replaced at the end of the 09/10 season?

Sounds like it was Purslow that bought the players.
"The managing director is involved in all the decisions: new lawyer, new chief of press, new manager, nine new players, new medical staff, new fitness coaches - they changed everything.
and that they took advice from some players and not from him.

"At the beginning, they changed the managing director who was talking with some players, and they changed everything that we were doing in the past.

We need to win the ball further up the pitch and apply pressure to the other teams like we used to.

I am concerned that Roy will divide the squad even further with his accusatory comments, unsuitable tactics and crazy interviews.
I always thought Torres did too much work anyways under Rafa and i don't think his hamstrings are cut out for a Tevez like work rate. I think the fact that we have no wingers was and is a massive problem, apart from the obvious reasons how many times last season did we see Torres going wide to get the ball, chasin defenders down the channels, lot of unnecessary work for a bloke with dodgy hamstrings and on the off chance he got the ball sure there is nobody in the box.

IMO 2 recognized wingers, in their positions would provide a different dimension and outlet for the team, at the moment we are easy to defend against, predictably we go central all the time, packing the central areas and closing down the space in the middle of the park forces us to push it out wide in which we have nothing, so inevitably it goes back inside centrally.

2 wingers would mean that the likes of Torres wouldn' t have to be out running the channels and he could just sit in the box and do what he does best which is score goals. And we could stretch teams and open up the play and be that bit more dynamic and unpredictable.

This season without Masch, Gerrard seems afraid to push forward, as leaving the likes of Lucas and Poulsen on their own seems a fear factor (and rightly so as it turns out). This means with Gerrard not getting forward to support Torres which leaves that big gaping hole, and no wide men getting forward there is nobody there to help the lad. Confusion over where to play Cole and Merieles doesn't help the cause either (Serious gripe i have with Roy)

Only last few games i've noticed Gerrard drifting a bit. We can all see that Nando needs support and to be fed, him giving up is no excuse though. His actual effort is non existent, shrugging the shoulders and falling over every 5 mins is not doing him or the team any favors either. I do sympathize with him and his plight but he has to suck it up and stop acting like a spoilt child throwing a tantrum.

I bring up the question again, how do you fit Gerrard/Cole/Meireles in their best positions in the same 11? Answer is you can't, so why did Roy sign Cole and Meireles if Gerrard is gonna be central, if he knew the 3 of them are best in central positions? It doesn't make sense. Cole looks dreadful at LM and apparently was signed to play a more central role, Merieles looks a decent player but is no RM but also him and Gerrard cannot play CM together or we'll get raped defensively? Maybe money could have been spent in other areas that really need looking at like LB,CB or LM?

Errr, I thought this was a bit of creativity on Arn's part but Rafa did actually say that. Legend!

One thing that I have said a long time is that I hope that we get in a new CEO that allows the manager to make all decisions regarding the team from top to bottom.

Let the manager build the team he want. Only then will we know if a manager is good enough or not.

The only involvement a CEO should have in transfer deals is to negotiate the deals.

Purslow obviously was talking and in cahoots with Carragher/Gerrard.

It stinks. I'd ditch all three.

I agree with all 5. But they are 5 areas which need fixed of about 50 that Roy has created. Yes we were not fantastic last season but we were not awful. Roy has made us worse. His press conferences are a joke, he seems not to know his players, his club or his supporters at all. His tactics are far and away the worst in the league, every manager we have come up against has ripped our tactics to pieces.

Try and come up with 5 things Roy has done well... Now there is a challenge..!

All true but he is a professional Matt, shrugging your shoulders, whinging and throwing yourself on the deck every few mins doesn't do anyone any favors.

Torres is pure class and is a shadow of the payer he can be currently IMO he'll be gone in January no matter what.
