Excellent articles. Sums up well the xenophobic nature of the British football media. Just wish there were more mainstream journos making these points, but I guess criticising your peers isn't as exciting as criticising foreign managers.

        Nonsense
To be fair if equaling Rafa's 7th is the true measure of greatness he's only 3 points off the pace.

Not saying Roy should stay, far from it, just saying there's another way to look at it.

Relegation battle / 3 points off 7th. Same thing this season at this point.

Roy does have to go, no doubt, but comparing to Rafa positively or negatively doesn't produce much other than arguments from either camp.

Changing of seasons, changing of circumstances.

I remember in the 70's (might have been 76-77 season)

There was actually calls for Bob to be sacked

They soon stopped when he landed the European Cup & the League title in the May of that season

However people cut Bob a bit of slack as he'd already landed the UEFA Cup & the League title in the previous season

The thing is that with Roy in charge the chances of a top 4 finish arent just slim they are ppositively anorexic

We wont finish higher than last season if Roy stays

There was a post I read on RAWK the other day gave all the permutations of estimated points to finish top 4, 7th, relegation etc...

I'll try and dig it out but for us to finish top 4 Roy would have to average over 2 points per game from here on in

Seeing how fickle I am, I am willing to review my opinion on Roy for this season only, if he gets the team to carry on from Blackburn in the same form and tactics AND just stops talking.

If Roy shows enough improvement on the pitch to get us a top 6 finish he may as well finish the season so we can get a better appointment in the summer - but gag him and don't give a penny to spend, he has to sell Poulsen and Konchesky before he buys.

To be fair, we have played some tough fixtures already, Arsenal, United, City and Everton (and only got a point to show for ) so we should have more easier games left.

Very true, on paper as easy as lets say West Brom, Sunderland, Blackburn and erm............. Blackpool.

That's it, they're easy games for Liverpool FC with Hodgson the great in charge, I'd expect 12 points from those particular games and 4 comprehensive, controlled, tactically astute performances.

We have also played Sunderland home, Blackpool home & Birmingham away and only have 2 points to show for it

I dont see us averaging over 2 points per game for the remainder of the season mainly because some of those games will be away from home

The slight upturn in optimism seems purely based on a 2-1 victory against one of the worst teams seen at Anfield for quite some time.

It's not just the result though but the tactics we employed. If Roy changes his ways then that is a different proposition to Roy continuing with the same old **** that wasn't working. His public pronouncements have indicated nothing of a change in his planning and his 'these methods have worked for me since 36BC' comment would indicate that it probably wasn't his idea at least originally.

In order to manage a top team you have to adapt your ideas to succeed. If Roy does that then he may do okay. I'd still rather someone more naturally suited to a top team and who has a record of winning and developing young players mind.

So thats win one, draw one from now on in until the end of the season.
Or 2 wins and a loss every 3 games, maybe win 19 games and lose 10 games.
I can't any of those happening under Roy to get 4th place

Like Sunderland and Blackpool at home........oh wait

sorry not having a go with you mate as we're all pissed off with the situation.

The guy needs to go now before it really becomes desperate.

Yeah OK I have been very vocal against Roy and he is far from convincing me but if he is changing his tactics and gets results I'm willing to give him this season in an attempt to get someone more qualified for the job.
