I see Jones as a good signing just because of the home grown rule. The manager can't just sign whatever player he want because of that rule.
Man C have acted very clever in the transfer market and signed players that will qualify as home grown after a couple of years, like Balotelli. They can use him outside of the rules until then without any problem.
they really haven't you know.

I could almost add the words 'that we dont get into a habit of winning' to the end of that quote, and still believe he'd have said it.
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Man City are pissing money up against the wall like Gazza in his pomp. As soon as the sheik gets bored, they are gonna do another Leeds. Have you seen the size of their wage bill? I thought Chelsea were the epitomy of everything that's wrong with modern football, but City take the cake. Not to mention the fact that half of the players in their squad are egotistical ******s.

Is that the same as how Abramovich was going to get bored at Chelsea?Originally posted by banditos View Post

But we only submitted 21 players, meaning we could have kept Cavalieri in nets and just named Kelly or one of the kids as the last homegrown. Unless Roy was planning ahead and wanted to keep as much slots free for January as possible, I don’t see how it made any sense. Is there a limit to how many players you can add/swap on your original list does anyone know?Originally posted by Arn View Post

What is probably getting forgotten about is that Diego Cavalieri wanted to leave. And if we are buying a replacement we may as well get one that counts as home grown and has the experience of playing in England and having been first choice and also understudy in his time.
Jones is obviously not a top keeper but we've had this discussion before. It is hard to sign quality players for reasonable fees who are also happy to be back up. We had the same problem under Rafa when looking for cover for Torres.Forwards.......

Aye, I suppose he deserved a chance to go on to bigger and better things, nothing worse than sitting on the bench week in, week out.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostWhat is probably getting forgotten about is that Diego Cavalieri wanted to leave. True, but he still hasn't won the Champions League. I reakon he'll get bored pretty quickly once they do that. The thing with City though, is that they won't be able to spend ridiculous money for much longer. Will be interesting to see what happens once they are forced to run a sustainable business.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostIs that the same as how Abramovich was going to get bored at Chelsea?

Difference with Chelsea though, there has been a noteable step back from spending ridiculously huge sums of money, and there were long term plans to make them self sufficient should Roman get bored. You say "when Roman gets bored" - he came in just after Benitez at Liverpool. Nuts how time flies. I remember a Chelsea mate at work being depressed about the coming season after all they'd signed was Jurgen Macho from Sunderland.
Can't see the same level of sense being applied at City.
