OK, well I wasn't suggesting he's 'calling the shots' in the way Lecter suggested (although it seems to me he has since tried to row back on that use of language, if only you'd let himOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostIf it's true that Carragher's genuinely calling the shots, i find that pretty shocking myself. I still find it difficult to believe that this could be allowed to happen to the extent that is being suggested. So i can only speak for myself, but i do genuinely find the suggestion shocking.
). I'd find that shocking but it's not credible and also far too simplistic I think.
I do think Carragher is far closer to Hodgson than he was to Benitez by last season, based on the two differences I've mentioned - his apparent willingness to play out of position regularly (unlike last season) and his public support (or lack of it).
That doesn't mean he's dictating what happens but it does, to me, suggest he's not just another player. Like I said, a senior player has a right to have a view but ultimately his job is to do what the manager tells him to do.
And I think it's fairly likely he's complicit in Benitez going and Hodgson being here.
Just as Reina might be complicit in Hodgson going, if the rumours of his unhappiness have any truth in them (despite his recent declaration of commitment).
A bit of player power is inevitable and justifiable - the important thing is whether it's constructive. Reina would be doing us a favour; if I'm right about Carragher then clearly the same can't be said of him.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I don't think you can read anything into them. It may be they think he's doing a good job but if they don't they're surely bright enough to know they shouldn't say so until they sack him (and probably have his replacement lined up).Originally posted by Rudo View PostSo what happens if we beat West Ham next saturday, are we back on track again?
If NESV really wanted shot of Hodgson, i think they'd already be getting the wheels in motion so to speak and i there's no sign of them doing that. Quite the opposite in fact, going by their most recent comments, they seem to have faith in Roy.
Either way they have to say the same thing right now..

Just a little salt in the wound, as there may be other reasons why we at present have this Hodggy dodgy man called Hodgson.

Look at these words from Guus Hiddink:
---
Meanwhile, former Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has revealed he was approached by Liverpool and Manchester City in the summer with both clubs interested in making the Dutchman their new manager.
“In the summer City and Liverpool both came to me with an inquiry,” said Hiddink. “But at my age I don’t want to manage a club again for seven days a week over three years.”

Maybe he was the last in the line of names - and when all the big ones had been asked (and The King wasn't in that list because his is wanted on a permant basis instead of risking), then Hodgson was the only one left.
BUT - I assume the NESV - or the English version - right now behind the scenes and unknown to journalists AND players work very hard to find, negotiate and prepare to reveal a totally different manager, who has a philosophy which can turn the ship in the right direction.- - - - -

I'm not saying that's what happened but is it not the logical deduction from what you were told?
Dalglish was not part of the initial options he was part of the selection process - I am surmisining that Roy was Carraghers/Gerrards initial choice
He removed himself from the selection process to be considered for the position I dont know what their reaction was to thatBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Well two things Lec...Originally posted by Lecter View PostIf you think its internet rumour then thats your prerogative
It isnt though
Number one - unless you were actually there, IN the dressing room or inside Melwood, then you dont know. You're going by what someone is telling you - so it's effectively rumour/gossip.
Secondly, you're playing the beautiful "i know but i cant tell you" card. And you're bright enough to know how little water that holds, even from someone as credible as you undoubtedly are.

I'm not accusing you of lynching him but that in general on internet forums there is such a mentality.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostI'm not lynching him so what's your issue?
So your position is that he decides where he wants to play based on his view of the options the manager has, right?
In my posts I said I would be worried if he did that but that it would be reasonable as a senior pro to express an opinion if it was for the good of the team.
It may all be true but it also may all just be conjecture. There's much speculation but little solid evidence and I will remain open minded until I feel the balance of evidence indicates one thing or another.

As I've said I don't think it's all just rumour but yes, of course it is conjecture. Certainly caution is needed which is why I don't think it's at all reasonable to call for Carragher to be booted out, as though his supposed transgressions wipe out all these years of loyal, albeit also well remunerated, service..
