Rafa had nothing to do with Johnson's weekly pay rate. That's the job of the CEO, so it's not bad business on Rafa's part.Originally posted by destinydude View PostIf Glen's on 120k a week it's a poor poor bit of business from Rafa's part even if Glen was his first choice or whatever. I was always told it was b/e 80-90k and that's why Carragher got a pay rise to match Glen's 90k.
Why on God's earth should Carragher get a pay rise to match anyone? Let's face it he should get down on his knees and offer thanks that he got a contract extension at all. £90K a week for the Hoofmeister is definitely a superb example of a bad bit of business

I've been thinking about something related to this for a while.Originally posted by Redspin View PostRafa had nothing to do with Johnson's weekly pay rate. That's the job of the CEO, so it's not bad business on Rafa's part.

Do people remember the big hoohah about how Purslow talked about a combined transfer + wage budget?
I still don't see anything wrong with this in principle but what if it was just a way of Purslow (perhaps as a proxy for G&H) getting more control over transfers.
If true you can see this as a real source of disagreement between Rafa and Purslow.
Also changes the idea of Rafa having 'complete control' over transfers as widely reported (by what we now know to be a press regularly fed information by Purslow).Last edited by dww; 28-12-10, 11:57 AM."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Nicked from TLW:-
Ive just read Roy's quotes in the Mirror today and again he just doesnt get the club at all.
He is an Imposter.
“I know that I am capable of doing this job, but maybe the expectations and ambitions of the club were too high and weren’t lessened by the fact that I came off the back of such a good season"
Compare and contrast.....
Owen Coyle: "We might not have the 18 we need to fill the team sheet but whatever we've got we'll go there in good spirits, we'll go there and be positive and we'll look to try and win the game against the champions and a quality side."

I think it's safe to assume that they're not standing idly by.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostWhat annoys me most is the not knowing. If I knew for certain that nesv are looking for a replacement then it wouldn't bother me so much. It's just horrible to think they may actually stick with him.
I actually like the fact that the club's affairs aren't conducted in public.

He's an unambitious prick who shouldn't be anywhere near our club.Last edited by Leyton388; 27-12-10, 06:45 PM.

That's very true in terms of Cole and Torres, you could certainly say the same for a few of our players - simpy put the whole formation and style of play doesn't suit the players at Roys disposalOriginally posted by dww View PostThe thing is that both Cole and Torres have had their best periods when given setups that suited them and a manager that did a lot for them (Rafa for Nando, Mourinho for Cole) and both have struggled to reproduce that excellence without that input.
Cole was a poor risk, taken by Purslow under the mistaken belief that he understood football. It would have been interesting to see what Roy thought of him before he arrived here though. I suspect he would have been more positive than his recent interviews suggest but they are a god awful combination nonetheless.
I would think Roy would have torn his arm off to get Cole in through the doors - his first big signing to show he knows what he's doing.
Cole hasn't as of yet worked out and Roy can put this on Purslows shoulders hence the self preservation kicks in and makes his typical negative comments about a player he feels he is completely absovled from signing.
