I find these articles a little bit strange.

They are all almost identical tone, and they have spung up today. This indicates that somebody at the club is briefing the press.

But none of the articles mention sources. Neither implicitly or explicitly. Someone is playing games.
    Oh I don't know.

Maybe everybody just realised that Roy is a total loser?

at times he comes across as arrogant but during more humbler moments he sounds quite contrite almost genuine. Towards the end of last season, you could see rafa quite upset and confused by what was going on. Roys showing signs of confusion and sorrow.

He's probably a decent guy but we're at the stage where we're willing to pounce on anything that will make him out to be a pariah.

We're looking for ammunition and he's giving it.

I've only been interested in him since he became our manager.

                i agree.

the biggest shock is the echo article.

Even in the final days of benitez, i dont think i saw an article of that tone or venom.

It was an outright assault on hodgson and i dont think they would have gone with that if hodgson was on terra firma.

                  He just doesn't get it

                  Dear John Henry,

If you need a little steer about the traditions of this club, then lets go.

I have supported this club since 1962, when I was 9 years old. (Forced at first, unable to do anything else ever since)

This club is about people. It is about Bill Shankly. Shankly took ordinary people away from their real lives every Saturday afternoon whilst he was at the club and could have made me follow any political party he chose to follow, because he was so charismatic, but he chose to make me follow Liverpool FC. I had no choice in the matter.

It is about Bob Paisley who through an unassuming and humble way made all of us believe that there was no other way than the LIverpool one.

It is about Heysel and the way we alll felt ashamed that our great club was dragged through that debacle.

                  It is about the 96.

It is about Kenny Dalglish who almost was driven to despair afterwards, but who encouraged the players to uphold and advance the traditions of the football club on and off the field, even though it hurt.

It's about Gerrard Houllier, who sacrificed alot in his passion about this club.

It's about Rafa. He gave us back our pride. He actually got us! He loved us and we loved him. Of course we fell out with him from time to time. There were arguments between us, what marriage doesn't have them?

But believe me, we loved him.

It's about Hicks and Gillett, and broken promises.

                  It's about YOU!

You are the custodians of this proud club. One thing you should know is that Liverpool people won't just sit in silence. We will not stand idly by and accept what is happening now.

                  It's about us.

If you know your history, you will know that we have given unequivocal support to all our managers, and that has been easier in some cases than in otherss. We are not stupid. We cannot be conned. We know that the players are not currently performing, but we also know that they are not as bad as Mr. Hodgson makes out. He is a manager with a mediocre history who will only ever acheive mediocre results.

We don't blame you for this, but it is in your power to at least try and change what is happening now.

The time for recriminations has passed.

It is up to you. Do the right thing!

                  Get rid!

OFF THE FENCE: Liverpool FC can rescue season by sacking Roy Hodgson

Dec 31 2010 By Ben Thornley, Daily Post

ROY HODGSON and Liverpool FC - not since Jan Molby squeezed into skimpy shorts in the late 1980s has there been such an uncomfortable fit in football.

If Anfield supporters were baffled by their board's decision to appoint Hodgson as Rafa Benitez's successor in the summer, they find it harder still to understand how he has lasted this long.

Nothing the Londoner had achieved in his past indicated he was the man for the Liverpool job. Less still in his disastrous six months in charge, which culminated in Wednesday's humiliating defeat to Wolves, suggests he should be allowed to continue.

On and off the field the 63-year-old has continually fallen way below expectations. Calamitous performances against the likes of Blackpool, Northampton and Everton have been as regularly matched by clangers in the media room, with each press conference bringing Hodgson another opportunity to lower expectations, demotivate players and trumpet his reputation as"one of Europe's most respected managers".

He is the anthisis of what a Liverpool boss should be, his manner and approach to the game completely at odds with Anfield's traditions.

Given his claim that he doesn't believe in innovation and his wretched track record with transfers, he also appears to be an ill fit with everything John Henry and his fellow owners represent.

Reviving Liverpool may be a long-term job, as the owners have claimed, but that task is becoming larger with each match Hodgson takes charge of.

If he is given until the end of the season as has been suggested, then the next man's job will be all the more difficult. Particularly without several of Liverpool's key players who are unlikely to hang around while Hodgson blunders through the final months of the campaign.

Far from steadying the ship, he is doing unspeakable damage to the club's standing and future.

And yet this awful season can still be salvaged, if Henry and his fellow board members move quickly to install a new manager, even on an interim basis.

The Premier League is so poor this term that it is not inconceivable that with the right man in charge and a host of quality signings that Liverpool could challenge for a Champions League place.

The top half is the limit of Liverpool's ambitions should they stick by the former Malmo coach, however - something Hodgson would probably salute as a triumph.

Despite what his friends in the media may claim, Liverpool's squad does possess great quality, but it would not suit their agenda to admit it.

However, if you keep telling a group of players how mediocre they are they will begin to believe it.

Instead the press talk of Hodgson having inherited issues - without ever specifying what they are, mind - and of the team being destabilised by the ownership issue, in spite of Liverpool having been sold two months previously.

They also credit him with overseeing a revival in recent months, yet ignore that Liverpool have taken just seven points from their last seven games.

While you expect the likes of Richard Keys to support his chum, it was particularly disappointing to hear Reds legend John Barnes claim that "sensible" Liverpool supporters still backed him.

Even before his disgraceful attack on the Kop on Wednesday he had lost even the most moderate of Liverpool fans.

Now it's time for him to lose his job.
                      Best article yet, VENOM!!!

The man is an arrogant and ignorant fool and it is not just the fans he has alienated, he has clear done the same to many of the players. He doesn't deserve sympathy because he has brought this all upon himself.

I think its fair to say that the mainstream press have finally caught on.

Guardian - Roy Hodgson in peril as anger of Liverpool fans alarms owners
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                          Mine angry and defrauded young?

                              Losers

                              Roy Hodgson
It's simple. Either he goes or Liverpool go to further ruin. Either he does the decent thing and retains a little respectability by falling on his own sword or his fair dismissal is due. His time is up.

Hodgson's appointment was a mistake but it would be a mistake of even graver magnitude to let him continue in a post he is palpably unable to fill. He is simply not up to the job and the supposed steady hand on the tiller has run Liverpool aground. His position has become untenable.

On Wednesday, when his side were sized up and then crushed by the league's basement boys, he lost what vestige of authority remained. In being out-thought by Mick McCarthy, yes, Mick McCarthy, he was stripped of what little credibility there still was to hide behind. He cannot go on.

                              Liverpool
They're flabby and shapeless, purposeless and blunt, aimless and shot, scared and spiritless. Measured in terms of disappointment, they're the worst Liverpool side in twenty years.

Even some Manchester United fans have stopped laughing.

                              Hodgson's Apologists
The only argument in favour of retention is that all managers deserve time - and money - to develop a team of their own. But in Hodgson's case, this familiar refrain is void.

To quote Martin Broughton, the then Liverpool chairman, on why Hodgson was appointed as Rafa Benitez's replacement:

"He wanted to focus on how he could get more out of the existing players. His focus wasn't on 'how much money can I have?' or 'I want to bring this person in or that person in' - he was really focused on 'I believe, and I've got a track record that demonstrates it, that I can take the existing players, get much better performances out of them and buy constructively to build for a better future."

In other words, he promised to stabilise and steadily improve. By the terms of his own remit, which he apparently set himself, Hodgson has failed.

                              Fernando Torres
No matter the scant quality of the service provided, there can be no excuses for statistics such as these: Pepe Reina had 14 more touches of the ball during the first-half against Wolves than Torres.

In all, Torres contributed a solitary blocked shot all evening, and his tally of completed passes - eleven - outnumbered the unsuccessful by just two.

                              Joe Cole
At the halfway stage of the season, the English Lionel Messi has started just seven games for his new employers.
