i don't know about ralf rangnik... he worked wonders at hoffenheim at one point last season but apart from that... it's no shame to fail at schalke though, they're somewhat of a poisened chalice and even magath finds it tough to handle them..
really don't know... it would leave a lot to be desired if we appointed him. he's not really up and coming nor has he been truly successful anywhere.

To explain the volte-face...FSG want the right man. Evidently too tricky/costly to do now, meaning caretaker at #LFC. Still unclear when.

Is he reliable Shaggy? or do you think a Caretaker will be in charge before the Manc game?

Reliable, there is more chance of Shaggy hitting the fairway with his driver

Personally I think RH will be gone before then. Maybe it's more hope than expectation.

Rory Smith is the Telegraph writer who wrote last night that FSG/NESV have decided to appoint a caretaker and wait until the summer for our man.

              Yea, I read that.

I was hoping they would sack him on Monday but I guess we will have to fall to Blackburn before we see the back of him, I hope.

I said it in the summer but I would still like to see Roberto Di Matteo as our next manager, was a top player himself, career finished through injury went away did his badges also degree and masters (I think) to prepare himself for managemnent.

Has done a much much better job than Coyle considering the respective resources and sets his team up to play with a mixture of neat football but also showed against Man U that he is sharp tactically

People said a while back that Roy would get the boot if we continued to flounder in the league and also got knocked out the FA Cup. I think a failure to beat Blackburn and defeat to the mancs in the cup and he'd be nailed on to go, particularly if performances reverted to type.

Personally I get the feeling he'll be gone by the Blackburn game. Keeping him on until then seems crazy, but the way he celebrated yesterdays game it looked like he'd won the bleeding lotto. Was he given an ultimatum prior to the game???

My worry is this: The longer he stays in charge the longer there remains a chance he can save himself. If he somehow wins against Blackburn away (very possible, they're in turmoil) and Man Utd in the cup (unlikely) then I can't see him getting the sack anytime soon.

And whilst i'd be happy to see us win, especially over the mancs, I would know it was a hollow victory as no doubt we'd then throw away our momentum with another couple of careless defeats.

                    @ the birdman

west Brom have been poor of late, I don't think Di Matteo has done enough to suggest he's ready, despite also showing good work with the MK Dons. Man Utd are also very poor away from home so that game is hardly a great yardstick.

He's had it, he's ****ed. Even forgetting results he completely contradicts their policy of building something over years and using young players.

Every paper yesterday went with NESV want him out and are exploring candidates, the lack of a denial said it all, you dont leave the manager hung out to dry like that unless its true.

The waiting in the meantime is agony but he wont be our manager next season.

Chris I think they are now intent on letting him go, but if he did turn it around, however unlikely that is, only a fool would bet against him being here next season. That said, if he did turn it around and we started winning games with entertaining football, many people would likely be happy to see him stay.

I highly doubt he'll change, he rates himself to highly to do so, but nothing is impossible in football. Tbh though that's exactly why we should sack him now. He's as low as he's ever going to be, 97% of fans wanted him out prior to Wolves. It's unlikely it will ever get any worse than it is now. Beat Blackburn and the Mancs away from home and I reckon people would start to support him.

I wonder whether the board think after the United game is a good time to pull the plug. Either Roy (who they appear to like as a person) gets a high note to go out on or we lose which is the expected result but can be painted as the last straw. Means the new man doesn't have to face such a defining moment to early in his tenure.

Or alternatively, get rid of him before then and stand half a chance of staying in the cup.

I really don't want Coyle, still relatively inexperienced, no experience of dealing with big name players, big squads, Europe etc. We need a few more years to see if he is the real deal or just a decent manager going through a good patch.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He'd need to get Bolton finishing top 8 or higher - and then do it again at least another 2 seasons, with some kind of progressive improvement, before he should be considered.
