Not having a go, or doubting this 'macca' guy, but it doesnt really sound plausible to me.
Gerrard and Carragher were consulted about the "next manager" prior to the sacking of Houllier

Cant remember which one it was but in one of their biographies it says Parrys asked them months before the sacking who they wanted to succeed Houllier. Gerrard said Curbishley and Parry asked them what they thought of Rafa

Remember Rafa was supposedly sounded out in the February or arch before Houllier was sacked

Anfield hit by a great divide Hodgson: Has few friends in the Kop
There will be 7,000 Liverpool fans making the trip to Blackburn Rovers tonight. The club still commands fantastic away support, but increasingly its various factions are walking alone. A further legacy of the era of Rafael Benitez, Tom Hicks and George Gillett is divided loyalty.
One club executive, a Liverpool man through and through, told me this week that his greatest fear is of the civil war once played out in the boardroom shifting its location to the Kop, with outspoken groups increasingly divided on the way forward.
One theory is that the mocking 'Hodgson for England' chants which could be heard during the defeat against Wolves originated in the part of the ground occupied by the Spirit of Shankly pressure group, and the commotion that followed was in part dissenting voices offering support for the manager. This may be wishful thinking as Hodgson is running out of allies fast.
It would be logical, however, that even on a night of great disappointment, Anfield would not be unanimous in its views. Support for Benitez was far from universal, no matter how history is being rewritten.
The legacy of that tumultuous time is a fan base that has been encouraged to think the hated previous owners were removed by a grass roots uprising, not the hard-nosed practicality of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
This makes for a lot of noise, but not all of it helpful and certainly not of one voice.

As ****e as any Daily Mail output is, SOS probably do cause the risk of differing views amongst fans being polarised and politicised. Not a good thing imo.

It's football; chat about you thoughts in the pub, at work, on the Internet. Don't try to create a political movement out of them.

Agree, I thought about this when SOS was attacking H&G, it kind of set a dangerous precedent and it could well be that SOS would keep meddling with Liverpool matters if they thought the new owners were taking the wrong direction. They need to step down IMO, there is no need for that group now.
                * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I think that the idea of a movement against the owners was fine and necessary at the time, I didn't always agree with their methods and I am uncomfortable with the amount of press coverage they are given as the voice of the fans.

Now H&G are gone I don't like the political nature and 'tribalism' that has been left behind. Having said that I'm not sure you can attribute a chant to any political fraction. When you're at a game someone starts a chant, people around them join in or they don't. The 'Hodgson for England' thing has been mentioned on forums for ages anyone could have started it.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Some of the SOS group may happen to be of the opinion that they want Hodgson out. In fact, it's very likely considering over 90% of fans want Roy out. If some of them chant for Roy out what's that got to do with anything? I don't think any such chants should be laid at the feet of the SOS group as a whole.

                      Alright Danny,

You know this LFC rumour forum where you mentioned this "Macca" guy, what forum is it on?

Do you check the forum out quite regularly?

I'd be VERY surprised if it was the lads from SOS chanting "Hodgson for England" or "Dalglish"
