Haha - so trueOriginally posted by peekay View PostA huge reason why the SKY are not turning against Hodgson is that he is managing LFC exactly in the same way a SKY managed team would do.
(i) Friendly and jovial with other Sky Favored managers - Check
(ii) Man marking and not this complicated zonal marking - Check
(iii) English - Check
(iv) Provides copious rent a quotes to journos - Check
(v) Plays Gerrard in CM - Check
Hodgson symbolizes Sky's view of football.
- so depressing...

All you need to remind the haters is the fact that they are going on about how Hodgson has inherited a bad team with alot of deadwood. But look at the team Rafa inherited and what he achieved with that team,on top of losing his best striker last minute.
Rafa bought in Garcia and Alonso,Hodgson bought Poulson and Meireles.
The methods in training is evident also because we don't look as fit as we did either.Rafa had his faults but from what you hear about him.And he had the attention to detail to get that 10% more out of a player with his dvd's and computerised analysis.
Hodgson is outdated I think in his methods.-----------------------------------------------

I don't buy this "Roy inherited a bad team" ****. Liverpool sent more players to the world cup this year than any other premiership team.Originally posted by kop-al-74 View PostAll you need to remind the haters is the fact that they are going on about how Hodgson has inherited a bad team with alot of deadwood. But look at the team Rafa inherited and what he achieved with that team,on top of losing his best striker last minute.

Hodgson is not a bad manager, he just isn't good enough for us. He does not understand the expectation, and judging by his after match comments today, he is deluded if he thinks that team played well. He constanly blames the players in one form or another, yet accepts no responsibility himself. Rafa had his faults and God knows some of the things he said, the decisions he made and at times his arrogance, drove me ****in mental and made me want to throw my ****in half time pie at the back of his head, but he didn't give a **** about what the press or Sky thought about him.
I thought that Hodgson would be a disatrous appointment, but when we hired him, I was prepared to give him time.
We have got at least 3 world class players in that team, but they need direction from a decent manager, which is exactly what Rafa is.
The manager of any succesful side is integral to the success of the team.
Hodgson needs to go now.Last edited by billd; 17-10-10, 11:25 PM.

I agree with almost all of you wrote but the bit I've highlighted is especially maddening about him.Originally posted by billd View PostI don't buy this "Roy inherited a bad team" ****. Liverpool sent more players to the world cup this year than any other premiership team.

Houllier used to do the same. It's classless, clueless, counter-productive and completely at odds with what the club stands for and the whole meaning of YNWA..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I've just spent 5 minutes trying to think of one occasion when either Bill Shankly or Bob Paisley criticised any player in public.
These things where never spoken of, nor were the questions allowed to be asked. This gives the players confidence in the club and the Manager. It's the same in any business, if you support the team, staff, whatever you want to call them, then you will get loyalty and performance. It's basic stuff.
I'm all for telling a player if he's not performing or has stepped out of line, but do it in/on the right forum, not on Sky TV/
By the way I watched the game today in 3D. It was fantastic, but just made it all the more excruciating!

Rafa did leave us in a bit of a mess though. And the team were a bit unhappy. I reckon the tipping point for when he left was that he has lost some of the players
At the end of the day, he finished 7th with a team that almost won the championship the previous year. Thats not good enough. Perhaps he deserved another year on the back of his previous results. But I felt that both Evans and Houllier stayed on a year longer than they should have because we didnt have the guts to sack them. Lets face it, Benitez would probably have struggled this season also, and more people would have turned against him. Perhapos he would have been more effective in the transfer market.
I think Benitez' problem is that players do not want to play for HIM. There was a worrying trend of good players wanting to leave. Xabi, Mash, Arbeloa. He failed to find a good replacement for each of these (granted Mash left after him). I reckon Torres would have left if Benitez had stayed.
Hodgeson has obviously been a disaster, but I think we should give him until the break, unless we are still in the relegation zone mid November. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I dont think we need any internet campaigns.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostSeeing that they are putting the boot in defense of Hodgson, saying that Rafa left us in a mess blah blah blah, can't we do something about this, a bit like the internet campaign instigated to get rid of Hicks!?
It's really getting beyond the point of pure Xenophobia and as Liverpool fans, we should stick up for Rafa and give them a bit of our medicine. This can't carry on forever.
Any suggestions?
I think Roy is doing just fine by himself.
He'll be gone by the end of November, of that I am sure.Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

How about singing the rafa song from start to finish of every match. It's not like the team are going to play any better with the 12th man behind them.
Soon enough the media will start questioning why we are singing about the man they hate, the radio talk shows will start asking why too, then we can unleash our fury onto the cunts that deserve it, put them right on matters with facts, no?
Maybe not the best of ideas, best I could think of

If Rafa had 'lost the players' has Hodgson actually got anyone of them on side???
This isn't about Rafa for me he is gone and we need to move on, Hodgson has to go end of story and anyone citing it's not 'The Liverpool Way' to get rid of a manager this early is a deluded idiot.
He's bought bad players (Konchescky and Poulson) and is managing to alienate more people and players by the day with his mad ramblings and statements in the press.
The only question you need to ask yourself is this - if this were Rafa's 1st season or if we had employed another foreign coach in the summer do you think they would have such and easy ride with our league position, knocked out of a cup by a 4th div team and the actual style of football on show????
Absolutely no ****ing chance.
All journo's are hypocricital ******s foolowing their own agenda and the sooner everyone in this country realises that and stops buying newspapers the sooner they'll all disappearThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

yup agree with this - he's just not up to the job and has bought players that should never ever have been given the opportunity to wear the shirt.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostIf Rafa had 'lost the players' has Hodgson actually got anyone of them on side???

Absolutely spot on. The two faced idiots who work for the media need to get a grip, rather than doing like Patrick Barclay did yesterday and calling us 'stupid'

I truly feel that this would be a massive gamble. OK Roy might win a few games between now and the end of December (not many at a guess) but what happens after.Originally posted by Charly View PostHodgeson has obviously been a disaster, but I think we should give him until the break, unless we are still in the relegation zone mid November.
We decide to keep him on the back of a few good results and then he returns to type.. The only way Roy can get us moving upwards and on a good run of results is to completely change his football pholosophy of 35 years, and there is no chance he'll do that..
Keep him longer than need be in hope of a change in fortune is to greater risk..
I hope in my heart of hearts the club are actively seeking a replacement manager as we speak, even if Roy wind the next 2 games, he needs to go, because it will not last.. His EPL stats prove that he's inconsistant at best.
