- he listed how many people in the game have praised him, how highly he is regarded by everyone in the know, etc etc - i replied with, well yeah he is a nice fella, been around for 30 years, gets on with everyone and isn't a threat to anyone.....no one is going to call him a cunt are they
I then suggested that Steve Mclaren has a better managerial record than Hodgson
- he didn't like that at all.My dad is similar to you though, and a few others i've spoken too - the whole, we are liverpool, we support our managers, we don't get sack them after 8 games etc etc.....
it's very well and rosy saying this....but we've never had a manager that has been this bad after 8 games so it's never been an issue!!! - i'd be willing to give him time if, for example the one game we won, we played well....but we didnt' - we were ****ing ****e against WBA at home - terrible, awful - it was dire - people (on here or in the pub) thought we played well against Man Utd away!! really - we got ****ing ****ted and were ****e, apart from a spell of about 20 mins which was only for a Gerrard inspired display and nothing to do with hodgson - people say we kept possesion - yeah, cause united let us, they stood back, let our clueless team knock the ball sideways and backwards around the half way line, and every time we went forward they took it off us and countered.
thats the issue - or if there were a couple of other results/performances that made feel, yeah a bit of luck, or get so and so back in and this could really change it - but for whatever reasons every single player on the pitch is not happy, look completely lost, and it just isn't work....I fully accept the players have to stand up and be counted - but they are just not responding to the manager for me - I even was willing to allow everyone (players/managers) the huge distraction of the takeover saga as an excuse - but with the europhia of that being resolved right in time for the derby - they just didn't turn up. If hodgson can't get them going for that there is issues.
To me - from an outsider looking in, with little knowledge of the workings of a professional football teams changing room - it looks like the players think he's gone and cant be arsed with....it's a sad sad sad state of affairs - but I don't see hodgson turning this round in 2 games, 5 games, 10 games, or 20 - by which time we could well be dead and buried.

here's hoping
