To be fair, our tactics were markedly different today. We kept a much higher defensive line and pressed the ball much higher up, with the exception of the last 20 mins.

I'm inclined to agree Calvo, but thought I'd put it out there.
        Forwards.......

...and someones put two and two together from that and come up with five. If there really had been a meeting yesterday then the runours would have been flying round overnight, not after the game?

Thanks, wasn't my intention to shoot the messenger! Interesting rumour and well worth posting, I just think it sounds a little too plausible to be true, if that makes sense.

Furry muff. Where has this marked change come from though? According to Roy you don't suddenly change an approach that has worked so well () over a 35 year career. Has the old fart suddeny seen the light?

I'm just about to go to bed, so I'll try to remember to elaborate tomorrow, but Poulsen I totally agree with, Lucas I couldn't disagree more. Lucas is our future, and the future is very very bright with him in the team imo

There's a good player in Lucas, he just tends to play within himself too often for me. To be a good player you have to bf concistant. Lucas is a long way from being concistant and as such I see no basis to suggest he is our future.

He has the talent but he needs to show if more often. If he did he would become a very good player for us as he certainly has the talent.

I still think he's got it in him to be a very good player with a couple of years more experience.
                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

If Lucas is our future i'd rather not be alive to see that

Ah i reckon Lucas would be much better suited to Serie A might see a different player but IMO for LFC to get back in contention for things players like Lucas/Poulsen need to be only squaddies or moved on. One good game every 10 games is not going do us or Lucas any faovurs IMO. I just don't see him ever really making it in the premier league.

I only skim-read that, but i've concluded that you want Lucas to be your 'bf', but that the relationship would have no future - correct?

last 20 minutes reminded me of every other game under Hodgson so far, nervous and lacking confidence that we can actually get the result.

I did spot that from Nando looked like he was heading straight for the tunnel but wasn't sure if he did or not - if he did doesn't look like great news for us!
i sit by the half way line in the paddock and he seemed to yes. so god knows what's going on there. and don't know what his problem is with us that he couldn't give us a clap. very strange response to scoring a goal.

i agree blackburn were cack but we've struggled against cack this season because we didn't get in their half at all. today we did.

except for the last 20 mins which like you say was back to type. odd really. we were really good for the rest of it.

                              Match report from me

I got there early yesterday - probably the first time i've ever been early - like 30 mins early

So - couple of early thoughts watching the warm which is right in front of were i sit.... - during the little two touch game, it was split between attackers/defenders - i don't need to tell u how much quicker and sharper the attackers were lol - carra/kyriakos/skrtel/konk/lucas , a two touch nightmare - oh and jonjo shelvey was like a kid at christmas - u could see the smile on his face and he was runnign round just kicking every ball and joking about with the other subs...he is looking the part, i want to see him given the chance, because he is not far away

Then - gerry marsden - crazy ******* comes on to sing - the players were waiting to kick off - he wouldn't leave the pitch

                              right on too the football

We played much better in spells - meireles, gerrard, maxi linking up well. Kyriakos had a beast of game in defence and attack - we were unlucky not too score more - Blackburn, lets be honest - we're ****ing terrible - they didn't seem to offer any threat or anything physical - our midfield three of lucas, meireles and gerrard were so much quicker and stronger at times than theirs.

Blackburn were just long ball after long ball - but without any target man - so it was easy for kyriakos and skrtel - no real problems there.

We did however - just seem to stop, around the 60-70 min mark...at 2-1, we'd had a spell of about 10 mins or so were it was wave after wave and we battered them - then we just stopped - bit of panic set in, the shape was lost, we got sloppy and we couldn't keep possesion - lucky blackburn were ****e - their best player was easy the pantomine villian El-Hadji Diouf.....which says everything about the rest of the team to be honest....if they had just one decent threat or quality player on the pitch it would have been a struggle - plus, they had zero pace in the side - somehting which causes us nightmares.

                              Player ratings -

Reina - 8 - not that much for him to do, but he's clas, and as always every time he got the ball looekd to start an attack

carra - 7 - out of position, tried to get forward and support - worryingly - he seemed evenly matched with diouf at times - a quicker/stronger winger would have really troubled him

kyriakos - 9 - man of the match for me - passionate, got the fans going, he looks like he loves playing for liverpool and deserved his goal

                              skrtel - 7 - did his job

konchesky - 5 - thats being generous - not making a scapegoat of him, but he is ****ing terrible - just ****ing ****e - can't pass, can't even tackle - i wouldn't mind so much about him being ****e, if he snapped someone every now and then....he is so poor it's untrue - he was the main culprit in giving away possesion, every time the ball came near him, whatevr way he was facing he just put his foot through it. - We had a lad like this on a Sunday morning - we nicknamed him Bombscare. - i think i will adopt this for the konk

lucas - 7 - looked like he had a point to prove - 100x better than poulsen - he worked his little socks off - he got stuck in, he looked more mobile, he isn't the dynamic, box to box midfielder we need but surely thats him in the starting XI ahead of poulsen everytime.

Meirieles - 7 - was involved, is a good footballer something we lack, keeps possesion, keeps things ticking, can strike it and it won't be long before he smashes in a screamer - much better in the middle

maxi - 7 - he turned up, he was involved in every attack, linked in well with others around

gerrard - 7 - seemed to drift in and out the game

cole - 7 - for effort, worked hard, and put some great balls in, it was an improvement and a couple of more performances like that will hopefully get the confidence back and he will push on

torres - 7 - still looked isolated, still looked off the pace at times and lacking confidence, still something not right with him - either physically or mentally, maybe a bit of both - took his goal well though

Overall - it was better, but i don't want to get too carried away - it was blackburn, at home, who were ****ing dreadful and offered no real threat or suprisingly fight. - We were allowed to knock it about a bit, and once we got some confidence, as mentioned, gerrard/maxi/meireles started to open them up a bit. - We still lack any direct pace jsut from one player would be nice, width, and torres looked isolated again and one glance at those on the bench didn't inspire too much - we also maybe down to nerves or lack of confidence went through some dire spells were a better team would have punished us. Tho to be fair - Robinson made two or three great saves that would have put the game to bed in the first half.

Hopefully we will build from it - but Bolton away will be a much tougher game, and if we don't win there, then I fully expect us to get ****ted by chelsea at home - so in two games to time - the relief, almost europhia of winning, will soon disappear

It showed that, we do have some decent footballers at the club, and with a bit of confindence, those players, regardless of who is manager - should be beating teams outside the top 10 easily - It also showed that we a desperate for a good left back, some pace/width, and another option up front - but we knew that already. If we get those three positions sorted in January we will do ok....
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I wonder if people still believe he's better than Insua because I can tell you he's not. It was untrue how bad this guy was and he has zero ability in beating his man. Apparently he has 'quick feet'
