Big shout out for the strapping greek lad. Has been solid at the back and really gives us a massive threat at our set pieces, something which we have been missing for a long time. Bargain purchase despite what certain posters may think.

Given his performances of late, has he done enough to be first choice CB? If so aongside who? Carra and him together might be a bit ponderous.

The Greek is a very useful centre back when he's up against a big "cart horse" type of centre forward - he's fooking awesome in the air, i don't think there is many better in the premier league.
It's against the likes of Defoe or somebody quick where he could be found out, (IMO - of course..)

But, in the grand scheme of things, he's been an excellent signing..

As far as 1st choice centr back is concerned.... Agger has to play, when fit..

Again, IMO - as soon as Roy goes (which is only a matter of time) he will be 1st choice, and rightly so..

We need at least one footballing centre back, who can release a telling pass to the midfield - and he certainly falls into that category

Superb performance by the Greek, ****ing dominant in both penalty areas.

You can't not like the fella, he's not the most cultered or quick but he gives it 100% every time he plays and puts himself about.

He's without doubt a very valuable player to have in the squad.

Never said he was a **** signing whatsoever, just disagreed with compelling craig that he was a great signing per say but defintely not a **** signing, be ridiculous of me to say that. But credit where credit is due and well done to him and he does give us that aerial threat we've been missing since Sami.

We still need another CB, Kyriagkos is a good man to bring in from time to time against likes of Blackburn and Stoke, but definitely not a permanent thing IMO.

You also said Maxi/Aqua/Johnson were good signings too? Kyriagkos was a decent signing as it was a low fee and prob on lower wages, lets not get ahead of ourselves, well done to the lad today.

And Maxi had his best game in a LFC shirt today but he's still been an awful signing thus far, same as Johnson and Aqua have been. Got to take into accoutn what these guys have done since signings for the club which hasn't been much. The Greek has a decent job IMO but is only a squad player in the long run.

He was good for what he cost. Let's not go over board and say he's good enough to be first choice cb in a title challenging side. Which is what we should bf aiming for.

Said in the post-match thread that he's been better than we all expected. For £1.5m what more do you want in a fourth-choice CB?! Scores goals, not great on the deck but not bad either.

His contract expires at the end of the season and I think he's done more than enough to earn a new one. I even thought recently about how he would pair with Agger... I know it'd never happen, but I think they'd be our best pairing right now (well, when Agger gets fit).
