he isnt anywhere near as good as the king was as a player, there is no disgrace in that.
also think Souness and Gerrard are next though i cant really comment on liddle.
He certainly is the best in the current era and on his day is unplayable and has been unlucky to play alot of his career when we werent consistently challenging.
he has won everything apart from the league so not a career without silverwear

When the third went in I thought he'd very efficiently done what no-one else had managed - to destroy Arn's argument about the importance of a single player to rubble.
One of the greats. There's no point going further..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Legend already and the best player I have ever seen in the red shirt.
He might not be judged that way as said, but to me his skill combination of both offense and defence is fantastic.
Fowler will probably rank higher on my list of favorite players, but he far from had the ability that Gerrard posseses.

You cant judge greatness on winning a league title. Look at Geoff Hurst, Bobby Moore, Gazza, Lineker or Zola.Originally posted by Baracus View Postfor me - Not until he wins the league title
All Great players, never to win the league title.
He is one of the all time Liverpool greats. King Kenny and Barnes are my all time players. But he is a very close third*Except Michael, who died.

You can judge teams on trophies won but not players. If that were the case then Phil Neal would outdo Kenny. Gerrard has made an average team look good and a good team look great.
Not only that he is the only player EVER to score a goal in an FA Cup final, EUFA Cup final, CL Final and League Cup Final! A lot of the time Liverpool was simply ten guys + Steven Gerrard. He will go down in history as our greatest ever. I'll be telling my grandkids about him in decades to come. That I am sure of!"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.
Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

I knew someone would mention length of service. I don't dispute that but in terms of pure ability Barnes is up there. Not that it matters.Originally posted by rudedog View PostYou just can't compare Gerrard to Barnes - Stevie has been with this club since he was a kid and has been the standout player of his generation. Barnes was a genius with the ball at his feet but he didn't influence the team as much or for as long as Gerrard has.
Gerrard is fantastic and a club legend. I just wish he was a less complicated individual. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

It's been a privilege watching Gerrard over the past 10 years, you simply can't put a price on a local player coming through the ranks and having the impact he's had.
A true Liverpool legend and i don't think we'll see another player like him again, ever.
At 30, i still think he has 2-3 years of top class football in him, then the holding role awaits, possibly? (all being well of course
)

Did you watch 'a year in the life of Steven Gerrard' on Sky One about 4 years ago?(think it was recorded during 2006?) His agent even admitted Gerrard can be a bit of an odd ball at times, moody fella and difficult to work out.
Suppose no-one's perfect.
