IMO Definitely the best player in the clubs history and thats saying something. Compare the players Gerrard has had to put up with in comparison to the players King Kenny played with, its ridiculous.

Time after time after time Stevie has lifted us up and won games single handily, it must be a real pain in the bollox being the one that everyone looks to every single time we are in trouble, Torres took some of the burden off Stevie's shoulders but Gerrard is most definitely our match winner.

I don't think ANY other great has carried the club like Gerrard has - end of!

Owen carried the team for many years but that was more down to Houllier's tactics. We played **** but Owen scored the goals we needed.

Certainly the best I have seen in my lifetime - kenny bit before me though in my dad's word's he goes kenny everytime - not sure how true and if it's a bit rose tinted glasses but he's been going to anfield for 40 odd years and he is adamant that he never saw Kenny have a bad game - ie, even when he played poor by his standards he was always the best player on the pitch, not just amongst the liverpool players but also the opposition...he never sulked, never went missing and never had an off day.......As good as gerrard as been which is a ****ing superstar, you probably can't say the same - though you could argue that the different era's plays a big part - ie gerrard playing in a time when footballers are multimillionaire spoilt brats that can throw a strop if they dont' get their way + he has had to endure some shocking teammates over the years, so he may have been entitled to sulk - for all we know had kenny played in this era he may have been the same

Stevie is near the top but he isnt a Kenny for many reasons.

In fairness, neither did Gerrard. He's obviously been a major part in our success but its nonsense to say he carried us to two CL finals. He was injured/suspended for some of the most important games in 2005 for a start (IIRC).

Put it this way. Have we suffered more by Alonso leaving than we would have if Gerrard had instead? :stir some more:
