Its not his fault he's so ****. As Shaggy said he should never been brought to the club in the first place.
I felt the same way about him. He should have never been brought in (just like Konk) and I cannot say anything bad about his attitude and behaviour.

It is unfortunate that his best is behind him and I wish him the best of luck but he reallly should be off loaded in January.

Good to see many Liverpool fans rallying around Christian:

Christian Poulsen will prove his Liverpool worth, says Roy Hodgson

Roy Hodgson has defended his £4.5m purchase of Christian Poulsen despite admitting the midfielder will struggle to win acceptance from Liverpool supporters after a poor start to his Anfield career.

The Denmark international has endured a torrid time since his arrival from Juventus in the summer, when he was signed by Hodgson, his former manager at Copenhagen, as a replacement for the Barcelona-bound Javier Mascherano. Poulsen was withdrawn to ironic jeers against Napoli at Anfield last week while his 73rd-minute introduction for Dirk Kuyt during Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Wigan was booed by Liverpool fans.

Poulsen's price will rise to £5.5m depending on achievements at Liverpool and though Hodgson refused to defend the Dane at all costs he is confident the 30-year-old will justify the price tag and his judgment.

"He was good against Wigan, his introduction secured the point at least because he was very good when he came on," the Liverpool manager said. "Unfortunately I can't do anything about the fans, but he's had one or two games in front of our crowd where he's not played well and he knows he hasn't. He is devastated by that and the crowd, who aren't stupid, know he's not played well. It's a fact of life.

"He can only keep working hard and when he gets his chance he has to get on with his job. He had a job to do against Wigan and without his introduction, with a very tired Maxi Rodríguez and Dirk Kuyt, who knows we could even have lost the game. But he's got quality, he's a good defensive midfield player. He's not that bad on the ball, but let's not beat about the bush and try to disguise the fact – he's had a bad start."

Poulsen also struggled in Italy and in Spain with Sevilla and Hodgson admits the failure to make a positive early impression in England has had an impact on the midfielder. The manager said: "When I took him off in one game he was devastated, not just because I'd made the decision but because he knows he was nowhere near the level he can play. He knows having played in Italy, for Juventus, that when you play well the crowd sing your name and when you're not playing well they boo you. He knows that. But I have every faith in him. We will get a lot of good use out of him over the year but he knows it will be tough to win the fans over.

"I can't wave a magic wand to do that, I can't speak for them, but I'd be surprised if the ones at Wigan said he didn't do anything for the team because he did. He won a lot of challenges, got us on the counterattack on several occasions, didn't miss a pass and won a few headers. He's devastated because he wants to do well, because that's what he came to Liverpool to do. Every player gets sad if they're not immediately accepted by the crowd or if their performances aren't good enough to do that. But he's doing his best and people have bad games

                    Much to my surprise, NO.

Just a check up as I had some tests done recently. All good for now

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think it's a mixture of things for Poulsen, he has clearly gotten a poor start with us, and not really played as well as he could. He has been linked with us for years now, and he probably came here on his poorest form ever. He was never going to be a Mascherano in ability, but never expected him to play as poorly as he has.

Secondly I believe he is a victim of being bought in by our most hated manager in memory, and therefore is an acceptable target to throw **** at for what really has been very poor team performances throughout the season so far. Poulsen havn't contributed a whole lot to the team, and will never be a superstar for us, but even in the games where he played decent he has got stick from fans, so the proportions are not quite right. He is the Lucas of the season 10/11.

The impatience from fans are at an all time low, and he might still prove his worth here, and I know for a fact that his ability is a lot better than what he has shown.

And also have to notice that it's funny how Hodgson can get blamed for doing everything wrong, when he sticks up for his players he is delusional, when he does the opposite he is the worst man manager that ever graced the game of football. Honestly I think a lot of people need to relax a bit, and somehow try and look at it all with more nuance.

Sorry mate but he is not.

Hodgson is just trying to justify his signing, of which £4 - 5.5m of the club's money has gone down the drain. It's a bit hypocritical when you think he has blamed the former manager for buying dross.

Where has Hodgson said that Poulsen is the Lucas of this season?

That wasn't a comment on Hodgson, it was a comment on the stick Poulsen get's this season compared to how Lucas was the scapegoat of last season. If Poulsen have brought nothing else then at least he has given Lucas some breathing space.

I was merely commenting on your assumption that he was the 'Lucas of 2010/11'. While I understand what you mean, Lucas is a far better player.

You'd give stick to a mediocre 31 year old instead of a 22 year old with a future in front of him. Poulsen doesn't need any excuses - he's old and experienced enough and he's not good.

I feel for him a bit though. No one wants to see someone struggle like this, but for that we must thank Hodgson for bringing him here when he's clearly past it.
