Wigan v Liverpool post match

Not defending that performance, but I fully expected it. In the predictions thread my foresight gazing arse told me it would be 1-1 (check it out).

Reasons:
1) Roy's away voohoodoo, temporarily broken but doubts lingered. Proven tonight. Hopefully he's still learning and improving.
2) We played a "champions league game" a few days ago against Chelsea. The likes of Kuyt, Torres, Gerrard, Maxi and Lucas were magnificent. They were bound to be lethargic tonight. Proven.
3) Roy adopted a 'low energy' game and stuck to it. Wigan adopted a killer mentality, reserved for top 4 sides. We should treat it as a compliment.

Hopefully next game we'll be playing better. Must admit the substitutions were cack but Roy was afraid to lose. So meh. Long way to go in the season and manure drew with City thus leaving that 4th spot wide open still. That's my Yellow Hat thinking anyway.

Today, and in several other games (against inferior opposition) this season we were the ****ing heavy bag. And even though we're man for man better than Wigan (barring Poulsen and possibly Poulsen) we're a heavy bag letting them do what they want. And boy they've shown that they will then attack and give us a go.

There's a difference between catenaccio and ****e, cynical tactics. Unfortunately what we play definitely falls under the latter regardless of how Roy tries to sell it to us and the players.

Also, Figeroa was ****e today, he is almost every time I see him. I can't believe we were in for him, almost makes me think we dodged a bullet every time, then I see we just got a different bullet in a 5m Konchesky.

The nearest system I've seen to Roys is Houlliers but even Houllier's system pressed the ball in their own half and didnt just start pressing when the opposition got to the penalty box

Its ****e this tactic its more hope than tactical nous

You are virtually praying that the opposition miss sitters or Pepe has another blinder or the one or two occasions you manage to lump it up to Torres that he beats 3 men and scores a worldy

We should have sacked Hodgson on Sunday because that imo will be the pinnacle of his Liverpool career

What makes me really mad is those two (or at least one of) could near enough walk into our first team & make a huge difference. The lack of width has been a big problem for far too long.
