Disastrous signing. Insua's miles better than him but even if people disagree, the worst they're gonna admit to is that they're both ****. He is supposed to be an improvement but we've given Insua away, a better player, and spent £5m on this journeyman ****e. Absolute ****e. Sickens me that so many of us could see it but good old experienced Hodgson couldn't. On your bike Hodgson and take your dross with you. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

i thought ( and still do think ) insua was utter ****ing wank. no pace, no positioning, gave away countless fouls, nervy, no attacking sense BUT some good assists ( lucky crosses IMO ). i dont want him back cause he is not anywhere near good enough for us.
IMO i think konchesky is a slight improvement ( take away potential, signing fees, age etc... ) purley on the pitch BUT i also dont hink he is anywhere near good enough for us.
However, in a straight fight, id have konchesky every day.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Was that you who posted he was going to score last night, then said you were going to stop posting '****' if that didn't happen?Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Posti thought ( and still do think ) insua was utter ****ing wank. no pace, no positioning, gave away countless fouls, nervy, no attacking sense BUT some good assists ( lucky crosses IMO ). i dont want him back cause he is not anywhere near good enough for us.

So, in light of this, are you going to commit 'Hara-Kiri'?
Are we winning?

Wigan targeted us down our left just as teams did with Insua and Konchesky got done time and time again. All this crap we heard in the summer about him being steady, good left peg, good going forward. He's none of those things. He doesn't get tight, allows people to waltz past him, reads the game worse than my lad who's nearly 2, he doesn't get forward like Insua did and deliver quality balls into the box. Everything about him is a disaster. He's been a journeyman for a reason. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The thing is that Insua has the potential to be good enough for Liverpool. Konchesky is almost 30 and is not going to grow or improve. Konchesky is utter wank and has no hope of getting better. Insua is a young player who is learning in a foreign country and has shown signs that he can be a good player. He hasn't been consistent, but he's definitely shown that he does have some footballing ability.Originally posted by Glenn Hysen View PostNone of them are good enough for Liverpool so why this discussion? The question is who should Roy have replaced Insua with this summer. Insua was terrible defensively, Konk is a little bit better defensively but sh1te going forward.
It's not like Konchesky is offering more stability than Insua. When signing average players they should either have the potential to become good players, be solid enough to be a short term fix and really put in a shift (and be cheap, not ****ing 5m like the Konk), or be an experienced player that can help young players develop. Konchesky ticks none of these boxes.
He's been better in the last 2 games, but against Wigan he was still awful. There's just a few glaring issues which stand out when you pay special attention to him. My main gripe is how bad he is at stopping the initial ball. He blocks basically no crosses at all, they reign in from our left flank. Secondly he thinks he's better than he really is. He'll get knocked a pass in space and try to take it on first time rather than taking a touch where he clearly can. A huge factor of a poor player performing decently is them knowing their limitations and working around that, Konchesky doesn't know or doesn't respect his limitations.
Possibly the worst signing this season although Poulsen and Jones are some ****ing stiff competition.

A young player need to play week in week out to get better at the highest level.
Insua had just played his first full season and you don't expect a young player to be fantastic his first full season in such a difficult position. The fullback position is probably the most demanding out there. A player need experience to learn how to play there. When to attack and when to defend because he must be able to do both in a very good way.
You expect him to develop more and more and to get better and better after that first full season. To get rid of him was just crazy.
He had just started to learn how to play in that position in the PL. It would have been different if it was his fourth or fifth season playing week in week out but it was his first.
He is still very young. Most fullbacks don't learn how to both defend and attack until they are 25+. Alves was crap defensively until he moved to Barca. Fantastic in attack but crap in defense. A.Cole wasn't exactly great defensively his first years in the league. Good attacking but less good defending.

The most demanding position out there the most demanding position out there or not, insua was bad, and the fact that Konchesky is utter garbage doesn't change that. Although still young, Insua had a lot of game in the first team, and not just last season and he showed little potential IMO. Yes, he wasn't as bad as Konchesky, but no, that doesn't make him good enough.Originally posted by Arn View PostA young player need to play week in week out to get better at the highest level.
