What I will say is that if you spunk £11m on a player, your biggest outlay in the summer, you should probably try and play them in their favoured position.

If you don't, then you're just being s bit silly. Someone should explain to me why Hodgson spent £11.5m on a CM when he in fact wanted a RM.

2nd half and Roy tactics, different story. For all the 'off the park' play, they didnt create a great deal.

Who's tactics were they in the first half, just out of interest?

Hodgson isn't the first manager to play a player out of position and I'm sure he won't be the last.

Same as the mancs used to look to Ronaldo or Rooney to win games for them.

Dirk can pop up with something, from time to time as well.

But yeah, teams look to their best attacking players to get them wins. Fairly standard.
