your not. if i had said they were crap then i would but i said they are very very very good

i think we would all love to be insulted by someone saying that they are very very very good.
Gerrard is amongst the best ever absolutely no doubt about that

I wouldnt have Carragher near a best all time XI, dont get me wrong Carragher has been a great servant to the club but to get into a best ever XI hes competing against Ron Yeats, Tommy Smith, Alan Hansen, Mark Lawrenson, Gary Gillespie (who I always think is over looked) AND Sami Hyypia amongst others

well i suppose so. though is it fair to mark down SG and JC its not their fault they have played during this period.

thats where the doubt lies for me. would SG have been better than Souness was? we dont know.

i just find it strange i get accused of insulting them for even thinking this.

i suppose its age but i dont really remember souness as a player but what i have seen and heard he was immense.

i do think SG is one of the best English players of his Era and i cant realy ask for much more than that. and JC for a season or 3 was one of the best centre backs in the world at the time. however great centre backs are great for longer than that.

its all ifs buts and maybes, i just dont get how you cant have the discussion without being told your insulting them

I personally think the Gerrard / Souness debate is a tough one

Besides which if you were comparing any player from the Souness era to Gerrard it would probably be Terry Mc because he was the more attacking player of him and Souness

In terms of being an actual central midfielder I'd say Souness was better, if you are talking attacking midfielder then its Gerrard

          Totally agree on both counts.

What a list - also thought I'd mention Crazy Horse Emlyn Hughes RIP... Though he was just a couple of years before my time... it makes you realise Martin Skrtel will have to up his game a touch.

yeah i mean would gerrard have shone in that team? would souness have shone now etc.

i can see the argument and also SG has evolved into a different type of player from when he started.

its the fact that having the debate is somehow insulting to SG.

Carra is in with some pretty unbelievable company though...!

Alan Hansen (8 league titles, 3 European Cups, 2 FA Cups, 3 League Cups)
Gary Gillespie (3 league titles, 1 European Cup, 3 League Cups)
Emlyn Hughes (4 league titles, 2 European Cups, 1 FA Cup, 2 UEFA Cups)
Phil Thomson (7 league titles, 3 European Cups, 1 FA Cup, 3 League Cups, 2 UEFA cups)
Mark Lawrenson (5 league titles, 1 European Cup, 1 FA Cup, 3 League Cups)
Tommy Smith (4 league titles, 2 European Cups, 2 FA Cups, 2 UEFA Cups, 1 Cup Winners Cup)

Souness in todays team, well if he could curb his over physical tendencies then he would be amazing in todays football

Yeah Emlyn would also get a mention

Not sure I'd have him in my best 11 though

Just for fun (from players I have witnessed).

                    ---------------------------Reina-----------------------------------

                    Nicol-------------Hansen------------Thompson---------Kennedy

                    --------------Souness-----------------Whelan--------------------

                    Gerrard-------------------Dalglish------------------------Barnes

                    ----------------------------Torres---------------------------------

I know, Brucie or Clem should perhaps go in ahead of Reina, and Rushie ahead of Torres (I would love to see Torres playing with someone like Kenny)... but what a team that would be.

I would replace Nicol and Whelan with Neal and Molby

I don't know how they do it though. h:

I don't know what age Carragher' Dad is but lets say he's in his 60's...so he's an Everton fan for 40 odd years, then his son signs a professional contract for their most bitter rivals and all of a sudden he goes from being a Blue to a Red

Obviously as his Dad, you'd expect him to wish his son the very best, hope he does well and all that but to actually change teams is a step too far imo.
I'm not from Liverpool but it's pretty clear you either become a Liverpool fan or Everton early on in your life and that's your team til you die. How anyone can change their allegiances after say 40 years or so is beyond me but that's just the way i see it.

As Carra said in his book, it was more than just purely football. Carra got so much **** from Bluenoses that his Dad was bound to defend him and thus side with his son against his own people. Carra said he'd taken so much stick and seen so much poison coming from the Blues that his old man felt he couldn't continue with them and switched allegiances.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Nah, no-one can doubt his loyalty to Liverpool FC, you won't find any player more dedicated to the cause although he does blab on a bit too much about supporting Everton in his youth if you ask me.

Fowler supported Everton too but he never really mentioned it too much whilst Carra seems to quite often.
