Thanjk you.

You would have thought so! So why drag it out? Why not just say he's not for sale at any price and get on with things. I would really hate to break up a solid defensive foundation less than a week before the new season!!
Get the feeling that come the West Brom game thiss will be all sorted and Agger will have a new contract on the table. We never do things that easy though
As much as I like Skrtel he can't reproduce his better form without Agger besides him IMO, Agger and Skrtel are a brilliant partnership and keep out defence solid, I honestly think Skrtel and Williams would make us very weak at the back.
You can have Messi and Ronaldo up front but if your defence is ****e your still going to lose games.
I think that's a bit of a myth to be honest. Think the last two seasons he has been good nearly all the time. The problem with him (even with Agger) in recent seasons has always come when the midfield abandoned the area in front of him. Lack of real recovery pace for both of them makes it difficult and is one of the reasons Lucas has been so vital to us.

Thats a good point and I would also add its not Agger making Skrtel look good its more Carragher making Skrtel look bad.
IF Agger leaving meant we bought:
Williams (replace with any defender who is a clear downgrade but well suited to Rodgers system as a direct replacement)
Sahin
Tello
would that change anyone's mind as to the sense of the transfer?
No.
That's a terrible trade off.
We lose our best defender, replace him with a mediocre one, a good central midfielder and a prospect who may or may not turn out well?

It would be one of the worst signing we have done when it comes to CB positions.
If he is the one to replace Agger I'd play Coates over him, even without any experience, any day of the week.

I think this is exactly what's going on. What sort of figure do you think would represent a sensible deal for him though? Personally I'd think he would warrant a 80-90k 4-year deal and I guess he's pushing for 100k+
It's a difficult one this. If Man City want him and are prepared to pay him 120k, to pluck a figure out of the air, then that's what he's worth isn't it? If he's as loyal to Liverpool as he says then he should be signing that 80k a week package as it's still a pretty decent offer. We're all guessing but, bearing in mind that the money element isn't of interest to me, I'd like him to stay and would make him vice-captain
Difficult question really, if Daniel was less prone to long absences I'd have no problem saying 80K+ but he must be worth 80,000 or pretty damn close even with his history.
City would offer more money in terms of wages just to sign a player of Daniels quality...and just because they can..lol..
But I will say their lack of activity in the market to date is good to see, and long may it last, well at least until the end of this window...
Finally I actually feel that BR is being honest and he wouldn't be happy about losing Daniel Agger, but if he did/had to then like he said it would have to be for a BIG bid otherwise where is the sense..
Daniel has his issues, but when he's fit he's priceless.....
At least Agger understands how things work. So can we please try to save of the pitchforks and flaming torches until he is actually sold*?
*which he isn't going to be
