See i'd normally agree and say yes it'd be a disaster BUT they've been the core of a failing team for the last 4 years, would it be that bad to lose them and start again?

All in one go, yeah...I'd say so. I take that point and there's probably some merit in it - but to lose that much experience, leadership and not to mention quality in one fell swoop would be a nightmare. And we've got about three and a bit weeks to rectify any further damage should it arise.

The problem if Agger goes is that Rodgers is more likely to keep Skrtel rather than invest in two centre-halves, plus a third if Coates is sold. Skrtel knows what Rodgers wants, even if his execution of the plan isn't up to the manager's standards. It's less risk to keep Skrtel (who knows the club and is settled) than invest in two top notch centre-backs who need time to settle, adjust and get to know the playing style of the team.

I bet if Rodgers can find two top quality centre-halves, then he'd sell Skrtel and take the risk, but I can't see it.

Then again, it may all be pointless if Agger stays.

Ugh really hope Agger stays. Love him and besides, we really need him. Hope Ayre got the message across.

I'd be surprised if anything came of this. Between Agger looking like VC-elect, the other changes in the back four, and the state of the club presently, the only way it makes sense for us to sell is if we get a huge amount of money. We still need to fight off the selling club stigma and the club seem aware of that. Besides, the only reason Barca are interested are because they see him as a cheap, easy Plan B to Luiz/Thiago Silva - I imagine once we strongly inform them we'll only consider bids £25m and up, that perception will change. And of course Danny has far too much respect for the club to try to force a move.

If we do find ourselves needing a replacement, though, Sakho's on the market.

If Suarez goes IMO Coates goes, Rodgers doesn't seem to rate him, it seems he is being kept to keep Suarez happy
