I really wish Agger and Sakho were given a crack together. Rodgers obviously has his reasons and it must be the two left footers thing but someone would need to explain to me why that is any different to two right footers, which is obviously common.

I do hope he stays though. Even if he's not playing every week - and I've no qualms if he doesn't so long as the bloke in ahead of him is better - we need players like him. Leaders who love the club. That's why Lucas should and will stay too.

Agreed, hoping we see it in pre season, we've got some tough tests aswell so would be good to see how they go. Two lefties would look a bit weird at first but cant see why it wouldnt work.

Either way we need a commanding CB who can lead the defence and sort it out.

Strange that its never been given a go.

I'd contemplate selling Skrtel if it was up to me, he's the player that loses his head when he gets flustered. His stock is high, sell him to City or someone and let's get in a right sided leader who would complement both Agger and Sakho.

Still think that could be Sakho. He captained PSG from a young age. Reckon the fact it was his first season at a new club in a new country, he's still young, the language etc held him back from showing much leadership, but he has all the tools to be a monstrous leader.

Between our 3 CB's we don't seem to find the right combination. Sahko is very raw & it's impossible to tell whether he will be an answer to our problems, too early for that. Agger gets dominated aerially/physically and is very slow but is by far our most technical CB. Skrtel has made mistakes this season but as a whole has been the most impressive he has ever been in a LFC shirt... one of our best players this season.

It will be very interesting to see what happens in the summer as regards our defence. We have problems at the back obviously and need new players in.... but it's a dangerous game. Hopefully if we are going to get 2 or 3 players in for our backline, we can get them in early so they are bedded in for the new season.

It is a dangerous game and 3 new defenders for me would be too much upheaval. One centre back and a left back would do for me.

I wonder will Rodgers look into getting a RB too? LB is a banker to happen & probably CB after what has went on this season.

I'd like to think that we had the right players and it was just about getting the right partnership, but to be honest I'm not sure that is the case, all three of our main centre backs have some sort of fairly evident weakness. I think that our style of play really demands that we have fairly quick defenders who can deal well with one on one situations, I'm not really sure any of our defenders necessarily meet that description.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Skrtel is our quickest CB & he's only quick when he gets going. Agger & Sahko are very slow.

Some people saying why not pair them together.. IMO they'd get crucified on the deck. But yup we probably do need a new CB. Quick, good in the air & technically sound.... not easy to find these days.

Hummels & Koscielny spring to mind. Kompany & Cahill obviously but that's a no go.

The way we play requires pace at the back, we push high up the park and often our centre back start in quite wide positions meaning when we lose the ball they have a lot of ground to cover.

Pace at the back in the premier league is essential.

Probably early days for Ilori.. might need another season on loan IMO.

There's also the argument of doing it all at once, though, isn't there? As opposed to adding two defenders now and adding another key one or two next year, at which point we'd have had major upheaval to the back line for three years running. If - and it's a big if, obviously - we can identify and get three key pieces we really want, players we think we can build around, I can see why we'd prefer to get them all in now to bed in at once.
