Skrtel of the two is far easier to replace and I don't think that job would be an easy one, Agger going would be a very bad move IMO as we'd have allowed yet another of our top players to leave and who realistically would we replace him with ?
We are in yet another re-building phase and we simply must keep hold of our best players

In general I agree. I would modify it to the most suitable players. The heart of Swansea's success last year (and one thing that generally worked for us) was the defense. It makes no sense to be changing the CB partnership at this point. Doing so would be a major set back in our rebuilding IMO.
The defensive unit is the one part of the team which needs the least work to fit Rodgers style IMO.

I'm not sure the back 5 needs much if any changing really and we'll hopefully be seeing both Kelly and Robinson (hopefully) really pushing Johnson and Enrique for the full back positions this season.
slightly perplexed by the general "skrtel is far easier to replace than agger" feeling on here when although agger is the classier of the two, skrtel has been by far the better "defender" over the past couple years - last year especially he was preety formidable. id say we would struggle to replace skrtel just as much as agger.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

i agree in that i would rather lose skrtel but if next season agger only manages 20 games what then ?
we need to keep our best players but i think we need to be looking a couple of seasons ahead by which time both skrtel and agger will be worth zilch.
i dont think we will get champions league again this season. We have a chance though because of spurs and arsenals problems. i cant see chelsea incorporating all those attacking players either so fourth place is there but there is still a lot of work to do in terms of recruitment and tactically getting the players to understand what they should be doing.
we need a proper finisher though for that final push. lewandowski isnt a bad player but im not sure dortmund will let him go.

Had this very argument with a mate of mine about an hour ago. I'm torn between the two, as I personally see Agger as the better player, but he's only fit for 66-75% of the season, whereas Skrtel is far more consistent, even if not as technically gifted (he is classy at times though).
Would be a very tough call to have to make.

Not a chance, our defence looks boss when Agger is in it but average without him in it. Skrtel has been good but he has nowhere near the same influence.

In terms of form or injuries?
I struggle to think of many bad games Agger has had when playing CB. Skrtel, although there hasn't been many, still looked suspect at times when Agger hasn't played.
Much like Mascherano got many of the plaudits for his whole hearted challenges, wheras Lucas more subtle approach went unnoticed for a long time, I still think Agger's defensive skills are largely underrated by some.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
