as painful as it is folks, we're in transition again... if we sell agger for 20+mill and replace him for say 10 (we could find a new hyypia) then whats not to enjoy. We should also remember agger only has a 50% playing rate due to injuries. he's had a good couple of years now, he's probably due a leg break or something...
I thought it would take time for Rodgers to get the team anywhere near but selling Agger is only going to extend that period further

Selling him for big money and buying a cheaper player is an enormous ****ing gamble

In fact its an astronomic gamble

This is a big problem for me

We've alienated Carroll recently and now it appears we are trying to do the same with Agger

Both of these will end badly for LFC and imo it definitely isnt the way to handle or maximise a sale

i thought so myself until this morning. agger will go at some point. its even 50-50 whether he'll be injured next season so given both points, if we get a great offer, maybe we should just move on.

Still makes no sense to me not on a footballing level

It will be a lowering of our ability in that position

We might get big money but we will probably spunk it on 3 or 4 players and will be lucky if one or any of them actually have an impact

It's OK for Rory Smith to point out that Godin's available for £9million, but clubs now know that we could have a large chunk of cash to spend on a replacement, thus driving the prices up even more.

What makes it worse is that Agger is a leader on the pitch. Last season, he really stepped up in terms of instructing the players (from what clips they showed) and now, the 'injury' card is being played to support his sale.

I don't think we'd entertain it if we didn't know that Agger would like to make the move.

There really is nothing we can do to influence what's going on, so why not just wait until all of the business is complete and assess the position then. This constant fear and worry every day over every twitter snippet is not healthy, and completely irrational.

every player has a price. if agger is worth 30mill then i say deal. we can and would replace with that money for sure

I have this nagging feeling we are attempting to do with Agger what we tried with Carroll

Its clear Rodgers wants money in to spend on his own players

Its pretty clear that the Carroll deal is not going to generate enough cash for him to do this

Focus has now shifted to another player who Rodgers feels we can get a good price for and a replacement for at a significantly lower amount

As I said earlier thats an enormous ****ing gamble in my book

I would love if agger stays, he is my favourite player hands down, but at the same time the whole injury proness is a factor and will always be in the back of the mind with LFC fans, after thinking about it if we were to get 20mil+ for Dagger at 28y/o thats not too bad, we still have Squirtle..

Im hoping we're not still thinking of selling Martin too, one i could deal with and get over but both would kill us/me completely. As long as the money is spent well on either an experienced CB and stop buying all the british tripe that cost 20mil just because theyre british.. there are plenty of players over sea's that would cost 10mil or less and make more of an impact in the EPL than most british players.

All in all i would love to see the partnership of Agger and Skrtel next season, but whether that happens is another story. If we're wanting to get back into the top 4 then keep our best players, but as a few have said before, no player is bigger than the club, if one goes, we move on.. we always have, always will.

I reckon whatever fee we get in will be spent on 2 or 3 players and it that is a risky strategy

i reckon the only thing stopping them trying to sell off the club is the poor financial markets and the poor team form not attracting buyers.

there will never be good team form if they start selling our top performers

we need more fan involvement on the board. fan involvement in ownership is something that would be nice but its unlikely to ever be realistic
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Sad state of affairs that a new Manager brought in with such fanfare has to sell to buy. What a joke.

Imagine having to build a new defensive backline, add to the midfield and replace an impotent strikeforce. All whilst trying to introduce a new style to the whole set-up.

Well, imagine no more, coz we might have two weeks to get ready for it.

but 2 players for 30 mill could easily be a 20 mill and a 10 mill player and for those fees were not talking average squad fillers - we could buy top talent for that if we're smart.
