I can see this being done for around 20m.

As has been said before last seasons transfer window has set us back big time and the owners are not prepared to fund that again so any more in comings have to be funded from players leaving.
I think you're on the money with that, sadly.

What Rodgers said this morning hardly fills me with confidence. Agger is vital to our team ffs and our defence as it stands (with Reina and Lucas too), is good enough for the top four, easily.

Selling our best players. Again. Sick of it.

More drama we just didn't need really isn't it.

Really don't like this Rodgers comments, I'd rather he didn't discuss it like that. Or said he's not for sale.

That to me is inviting bids, and suggests we dont even want to keep him.

I must say I'm unimpressed by the way Rodgers has handled the situation regarding some players

Everytime he speaks I think "no need for that"

I think its pretty clear from the clubs and indeed Rodgers actions that we are now officially a selling club

            Torres for 50. Ronaldo 85.

They all have a price and he simply pointing it out...
I entirely agree with you in principle but it is fair to ask 'why say it in public?'. Any enquiries about his availability are easy to straight bat if the manager wants to.

No doubt he'll be flapping his mouth on Talk****e again shortly, or picking up his quill and writing another daft letter to express his amazement and wonderment at The Kop following his first game in charge at Anfield.

I can't see what difference it matters about what Rodgers says.

Clubs have clearly already bid and been quoted a price. Rodgers has said Agger is happy. He's said he's a good player. If he stays I see no issues.

He can't turn round and say he's not for sale when he has already told bidding clubs the price. He would look stupid then if later today a bidding club matched the price and all of a sudden he's off.

He clearly says Agger has a price as a club is close to bidding the required amount for us to do business. Obviously Suarez also has a price, but no clubs came anywhere near that for us to have to consider our options. I'm sure if PSG had offered £70m it'd be a different scenario and see you later Luis.

The guy can't win in some respects.

If he says he's not for sale whilst the deal is going on behind the scenes, the fans feel lied to. He says that the right price will always be considered, and he's a tit...

                    Spot the difference:

Rodgers on Agger: "Every player has his price. Daniel is a top player, loves the club. But you can never say never."

Rodgers on Skrtel: "He fits into my plans and ideas. I will fight as hard as I possibly can to keep the players that I want here and he is one of them"

fact is every club in the world will accept offers for their players IF it reaches theyre value. to hit the same **** of "we dont want to sell" or "they're not available" is meaningless and id be surprised if for one minuite any football fans beleived that tosh.

we've been lied to for years and years at this club and i for one am delighted to see rodgers be so open with his answers. we all know every player has a price and IMO it stinks of small club mentality to deny it.

mourinho, ferguson and wenger have all hit the same line when specifically asked about individual players. AVB and the puppet master at spurs dont for one minute want to sell modric. he's one of their best players but its an open secret that he has a set price of 35 mill.

We didnt look silly when we sold Torres for £50 million despite saying he wasnt for sale

                              Of course they will

But as I said to Danny perception is a matter driving force in eventually price received no matter what you are selling or buying

The stronger you appear the more likely you will realise a better price

But you're completely ignoring any context.

Skrtel might be near to signing a new contract and Rodgers wanted to show he was wanted.

Agger might be near turning down a new contract and Rodgers wants to incite a bidding war to get the best price.

We don't know *anything* behind the scenes and there has *NEVER* been any consistency in what anyone says in football.
