Why do you think the owners should fund transfers from their own pockets on an ongoing basis?

Do you do that at work? Like buy your own stationary, or computer, it desk? Or does the company do that?

People see chelsea, or city and they get jealous. I guess that is understandable, but those clubs are completely dependent on the whims and goodwill of their egotistical benefactors.

Who's to say they won't go the way of Rangers at some point? It's certainly not sustainable.

Absolutely not having a go or singling you out deliberately here mate, but in all honesty I'm not sure it is worth posting, at least not anywhere other than the twitter thread. Like 99% of people on twitter (and elsewhere on the net) this is just some random bloke. He even admits he isn't "ITK", its just what someone else completely random told him. Putting 2+2 together and making the end of the universe. A (non LFC) mate of mine the other day told me we were selling Suarez and replacing him with Dempsey. He "knew" this from reading the Daily Star or something and was completely adamant about it. Luis signed a new contract about 2 hours later. I could easily have posted that on twitter as something "I've been told", and as the co-owner of a long running fansite I might even have more credibility than many...

The complete lack of quality control or filtering through twitter is starting to make the whole football transfer rumour thing a complete farce. More than it ever used to be. I don't want us to do like some other sites and ban the posting of rumours / twitter ****e from anyone other than specific sources, militant modding like that isn't our thing, but also I am starting to think that we do need some sort of system / guidelines for these things on here for everyone's sanity and just so people know where they stand. Going to have a serious think about this... comments welcome (though preferably by pm or something, not wanting to hijack this thread massively).

No bother, and as I said its not about an individual post (that one was just the catalyst for my comments) but about a wider twitter issue and finding a way as a site to manage it so everyone is as happy as possible. At the moment there aren't exceptionally clear guidelines on it to help people filter their own posts, but I think after getting some feeback (thanks to the people who have done that so far) and discussion with the mods I'll try to rectify that.
