What we've gained in attacking fluidity and style we've lost in defensive rigidity. They are both better defenders then they are showing, down to the manager to find a style that suits all 11 players, not just the forwards.

Must just be a coincidence then that both of them are suddenly making loads of errors.Originally posted by Sarb View PostI'm not sure if it's defensive organisation that is the issue. Aren't they just making basic errors, failing to track their man, pure lazyness, lack of concentration. I have concerns on defensive set-up but my main one is too much being asked of Lucas too soon. His position is vital but we can't afford to have a player in that position trying to gain fitness with the way we play
I'm not really having that. Rodgers IMO is struggling big time to get the balance right between attack and defence. They're making mistakes partly because much of the time we're so exposed. It's not hard to make a mug of a CB when you're 3v3, 1v1 or whatever. We're so easily countered when we lose the ball - we've seen it God knows how many times under Rodgers...sucker punched on the break. Again and again. We're wide open sometimes, the back four are getting precious little protection and the CBs are often caught between two stools. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I'd drop Agger. You can't blame Rodgers for the fact that Agger is sloppy at marking his man on a corner/free kick. How is that the managers fault? He does it time and time again and I've no doubt he's pulled up on it each time.
I agree in general the defence is a shambles, and a large part of the blame lies with Rodgers, but these errors Agger keeps making are individual mistakes. I think he needs to be dropped. I'd start with Carragher and Skrtel against Swansea.

It's his job to organise us at set pieces - to have each player absolutely clear on his job, on what he's supposed to be doing. We're a shambles at set pieces and that's down to Rodgers. Sure Agger/other players are losing their man but why is it happening time and time again? The organisation appears non-existent. Rodgers has to take responsibility. It's just not good enough. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Agger has been mainly excellent for us over the years. This season he looks ****e, after imperious displays at the Euros. Last season arguably Agger & Skrtel were our best players. Skrtel player of the year. Now look at the pair of them. Coincidence?
Agger is playing ****, failing to track the man he's marking and misjudging the flight if the ball. Deal with it.

Agger was absolutely clear that he was marking McAuley on that corner yet he lost him (as he's done countless times recently). It's Agger's fault and he needs to sort it out.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostIt's his job to organise us at set pieces - to have each player absolutely clear on his job, on what he's supposed to be doing. All Rodgers can consider doing is abandoning man marking and going back to zonal marking IMO. That still doesn't excuse Agger for his sloppiness at set pieces though.

Many journos have pointed that out - Rodgers is better suited to getting the best our of offensive players, may not be a coincidence that two centre halves are suffering from bad form.
Even if you do attribute the first goal to Rodgers (which I dispute highly) - it's hardly his fault that we can frequently miss two dozen chances. That's on the players.Last edited by Captain Stu; 12-02-13, 09:55 AM.

You say that but his Swansea team last year we're very solid at the back yet struggled to score goals. He got players like Ashley Williams, and Neil Taylor playing the best football of their careers. So I'm not sure how that fits in with your theory?Originally posted by Captain Stu View PostMany journos have pointed that out - Rodgers is better suited to getting the best our of offensive players, may not be a coincidence that two centre halves are suffering from bad form.
