Barcelona try to land Daniel Agger from Barcelona and David Luiz from Chelsea

Liverpool must resist another approach for defender Daniel Agger from Barcelona, with the Dane now a prime target for the Spanish champions

Reports from Spain suggest a £14 million bid has been lodged for the 28-year-old, although Liverpool insist they have received no formal offer yet.

Agger was valued at £30 million by Liverpool when a bid from Manchester City was strongly rejected last summer.

There is some concern that Barcelona will be able to tempt Agger from Anfield, however, so much so that Martin Skrtel has been told he can forget about leaving in the immediate future.

Liverpool have also agreed to pay £2 million of Pepe Reina’s £6 million salary for the duration of his season’s loan at Napoli.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, have rejected a £35 million bid from Barcelona for Brazilian defender David Luiz.

Manager Jose Mourinho has maintained since returning to Stamford Bridge that the 26-year-old is an integral member of his squad and will not be leaving under any circumstances.

And that stance has not altered with the Portuguese instantly informing the La Liga champions to forget about any plans for signing Luiz or anyone else at Chelsea.

The feeling at Stamford Bridge is that replacing Luiz, who was signed in Jan 2011 from Benfica for around £20 million, would be impossible at this stage of pre-season with the new Premier League campaign less than three weeks away.

Furthermore, the Brazilian has been earmarked to play a key role for Mourinho this season giving the Chelsea manager a strong selection of centre-backs to choose from with John Terry and Gary Cahill impressing here so far.

Mourinho is desperate to retain a core of players such as Luiz, Eden Hazard, Oscar and Juan Mata and will steadfastly refuse to sell them to Barcelona or anyone else – no matter what fees are offered.

Luiz, who has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich, sat out Chelsea’s match with AC Milan in New Jersey with a hamstring strain which also forced him out of the final of the Guinness International Champions Cup here in the early hours of this morning.

From the article it doesnt seem like we want to sell Agger but are holding off selling Skrtel in case Agger decides to move on?

Why do they think they can offer us 20 million less than they would pay for Luiz? Why is everyone always taking the piss out of us?

Agger can't leave. Hope we've made that clear and shut Barcelona down. The end.

no way is he really called Steve Boner!
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

What is it with clubs thinking they can poach our players on the cheap? £17m for Agger and £35m for side show bob? Behave.

No way will we sell Agger this window, and no way is he the type to go forcing a move either. Really confident this one won't have legs.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                              Mine angry and defrauded young?

                                Seventh season for Agger.

                                28.

He might think its time for him to move, especially if Barca are knocking ?

He appears happy with us, and we've been here before with these rumours, but i wouldn't rule it out completely. Maybe not this summer.
