'Course he doesn't want to leave, he's probably the most loyal player in the squad apart from the Scousers. Another honorary Scouser. Danish players seem to really take to Liverpool it seems. Apart from Poulson obviously

Also I remember reading Agger was a slow healer. Four weeks for a strain does seem OTT. Not only is he injury prone, but he's also slow to recover from those injuries. It's such a shame as I really think he could have been a world class CB had he stayed injury free.

As for selling him, I've voiced that as an option at times, although now I think it's got to the stage where I think his valuation wouldn't be high enough to merit the risk of having to replace him. Let's just keep him here until he retires. He's a rare breed who'd accept fighting it out as a squad player in the modern age due to his love of the club

would still sell him once fit....not someone who can stay injury free long enough in a long season/premier league

Sell him for hardly anything, or keep him and have a quality player (when fit) as a squad player?

his loyalty is admirable and a rare commodity these days. i would be just as loyal for 100k a week, no problems.
LFC has to be more ruthless and when we have a suitable replacement sorted we need to move him on. a decent enough player when fit, but we get less and less playing time from him as time marches on.

over the years i have seen many great players being told their time was up and they were shown the exit. sentiment does not win trophies and leagues. it will be gerrards turn soon, although he will probably get a coaching job.

could have sold him when we had the chance for a good price....... as for his fitness doubt he will ever remain injury free.re-negotiate his contract to reflect his injury/fitness levels/games played

Thinking more about it I think his wages would be key in whether the club would be willing to keep him on as a squad player. We seem intent on getting value for money in terms of wages. I'd assume that if Agger's wages are not representative of that of a squad player we may well see him sold in the summer.

Same applies to Glen Johnson I think too.

                    Same here.

I didn't want him to be sold in summer and I don't want him to be sold in January.

Still very much good player (just turned 29) and his loyalty and leadership is something I don't want to see losing as we don't have many players left with his level of experience.

In addition, Ilori is far from being ready, Coates will probably be sold in summer, Toure is getting old and Skrtel not consistent enough so we'll need him to provide competition the CB position for next while.

Out of interest, does Ilori have what it takes to be a first choice CB eventually?

Loyalty should be important, and how we treat our players should be how we expect the player to behave in kind.

We can hardly get wound up if Suarez leaves if we are happy to dump a player who wants to stay and is still a good player. He could have flashed his tits when Barca was sniffing, and he didn't, and that takes some restraint.

Get him fit and get him back in the team.

"Oh but Agger is crap in the air"

Yeah, but we also keep clean sheets when he's in the team.

****ing Toure, Skrtel and Sakho FFS. Agger = points and clean sheets.

All our defenders are ****. Lets just play a 0-0-10 formation and score bucket loads at the other end

Agger should be first choice for me. Then it's between Sakho & Skrtle. Toure is a distant fourth.

A fit Agger leads to a more secure defence. They have been a shambles recently when he's not in the team.
