Would Comoli allow him to be sold? If NESV (FSG / UKSG???) wish to implement a policy of signing rising stars, then allowing one of Spains highly rated players to leave will send out entirely the wrong message to any young players we try to sign in the future. Especially if Pachecco is replaced by an ageing journeyman.

Dani Pacheco has been urged by Roy Hodgson to prove he is good enough to force his way into Liverpool's first team plans.

The Spanish starlet has not featured since the humiliating Carling Cup exit to lowly Northampton Town in September amidst reports of growing interest from his homeland with Malaga and RCD Espanyol both keen to offer him a chance of regular senior action.

Pacheco, 19, joined Liverpool three years ago from Barcelona and, having impressed in this summer's European Under-19 Championships, scored for the reserves against Everton on Tuesday - leaving the Anfield faithful at a loss as to why he cannot command a regular place.

But Hodgson insists that the striker will have to continue to work hard if he is to build on his 11 appearances in all competitions this season, and hinted that he may be offered a chance to shine in the Europa League if he applies himself.

"He's had moments when he's looked good, others when not quite so," said Hodgson.

"He's working on his game. He featured in the unfortunate Northampton game.

"It was a great opportunity for those outside the first 13 or 14 to really show me, 'You should be thinking of me.'

"When will he get his chance again? Probably in one of these games in Europe, who knows, may he will burst back onto the scene, but it is very difficult to do that in a reserve game."

            he goes missing too much.

            Not good enough I think.
I actually think the lad could be as good as Garcia was and frankly I'd take a Garcia over someone like Cole

At least Garcia showed flashes of brilliance occasionally

In the grand scheme of things at best he should be a squad player but he should be figuring moere than he is at the moment

Maybe we should try him wide right

maybe it's because whatever roy does now i just dislike him more anyway - but something with that - just doesn't rub well with me at all - i am reading that as - he has done some good things, got a chance against northampton, but didn't take it, and thats it now unless by some miracle he breaks through by either scoring 10 goals in consecutive games in the ressies or i am forced to play him through injuries.

But as i said - the northampton game was a complete cluster **** - it doesn't matter how ****ing good any young player is - if they are playing out of position in a side that has been set up so badly and were clearly unmotivated and included the likes of spearing, babel, jovanovic, lucas who was dreadful that game, etc etc etc - well ****ing hell - pele would have struggled to make an impact in that performance

He's gone - pacheco - he'll be fed up and he'll have agents all over spain tapping him up. He's not going to stick around to prove a point to roy ****ing hodgson when the likely hood is some one back in spain will be offering first team football.

So Roy, if it is hard for Pacheco to force his way back into the first team squad by playing in reserve games how else is he going to do it???

Just another pathetic not thought out comment by Colostomy Colin our esteemed manager.

I don't for 1 minute think that NESV/Comolli will let Pacheco leave but with this ****ing idiot in charge anything is possible.

Everytime I fell a little positive about our season he goes and does yet another ****ing press conference or interview where he spouts utter ****.
Right this very second after reading those quotes from him I want us to get humiliated at Spurs and for him to be sacked.
I get the long term plan thing and waiting for NESV's first choice for manager but this guy could do so much damage it will take 5-10 years to repair

As usually with Roy you can sort of see his point - young players tend to have to grab their chances when they come along (older players have past glories to fall back upon). He somehow makes it sound entirely pointless trying to train well or do good things in reserve games. Which essentially means that he will never develop a young player himself as he isn't willing to put the effort in giving them a chance and developing them (in the way Wenger frequently does and Rafa did with Insua and was beginning to do with others).

With Roys attitude we might as well go to the Keegan model of sacking off reserve games entirely.

Sadly even if we get completely stuffed by spurs this weekend, he'll still be manager on monday. It will take another bad run with us dropping back into the relegation zone for that to likely happen and the way this league is going he'll just manage to keep us midtable for the season in all honesty. He'll claim it as a good job while the fans tear out their hair in frustration.

                              I hate Hodgson

                              These latest comments aren't good.

I tell you what Hodgson should do, **** it, let us know exactly who is to blame for every ****ty defeat we have under the current lacklustre management... lets point fingers, shake heads, tut, and moan about talented, young players, played out of position, in a single game.

And lets make the judgement that they aren't good enough, freeze them out of any first team action, and generally act like the classless, clueless man that you so plainly are.

Blasphemy, but some people could argue this is the kick up the butt that Pacheco needs to reach the next level.

Not defending Roy anymore, just saying two things can happen: 1. (Likely) Pacheco leaves or 2. He doesn't turn into another Babel and becomes a first team regular on merit.
