Maybe that is because Torres actually delivered when fit last season and didn't sulk the whole season.

Gerrard hasn't proved that he can deliver in a long time now. He hasn't showed in a long time that he can win a game almost on his own like he could do a couple of years ago.

When it comes to you then it really is Gerrard can do no wrong whatever he do. The way he acted last season was a disgrace and you know it but GCDNW eh

He let the fans, the club and his team mates down big time. Do you ever ask the question why he did it?

Dont be a dick with all that 'Gerrard can do no wrong' - coming from someone who brown noses rafa at every opportunity, as if he's utterly perfect.

And you do your point no favours when you suggest that Gerrard 'sulked the whole season'. Frankly, it's bollocks. He had his moments where he was downtrodden and let his head drop. But he's been carrying us for a ****ing decade, who in this world is that perfect that they wouldnt have ONE ****ing period where they arent 100% on the ball? And it certainly wasnt 'all season' FFS. Cut him some ****ing slack, i think after all he's done for us, he's entitled to the benefit of the doubt maybe?

Are you honestly trying to tell me you've never ever had a time when you've gone to work and felt unmotivated, felt like you didnt wanna be there and werent completely 'at it' 100%?

That's bollocks i'm afraid, everyone has times like that and Gerrard, captain or no captain, money or no money, is still a human being, and still open to that kind of thing too.

The thing you forget is that, Reina aside, there were times last season where EVERYBODY was 'sulking', not with it, didnt fancy it and got stroppy. It was a **** season, that will happen sometimes.

But you ignore everyone else, and hang Gerrard out to dry - pathetic. Your agenda is so obvious that even some of the less sharper people on here have noticed it.

It's basically the big white elephant in the room.

And this season so far, Torres has sulked for half a season. Are we to expect that he'll get half the flak you give Gerrard? Are we ****.

You're so obviously bitter that Rafa went, and so desperate to pin the blame on anyone other than Rafa himself, for producing such a poor season. Purslow's lost his position now, so he's out of the equation, and you wont point the blame at someone like Torres, who Rafa himself bought to the club, so Gerrard is an easy target. Embarrassing.

I don't think we will lose this, BUT if we did that has to be the end of the Bodge.
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

You wish His excuse will be that the young players that he " gave an opportunity to shine" have failed the side and won't be seen again. It's never his fault but I hope the owners can see through this

              Liverpool v FC Utrecht: Preview

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson does not fear for his job and is confident owners New England Sports Ventures will back him as he tries to turnaround the club's recent decline.

The 63-year-old has been under almost constant scrutiny since replacing Rafael Benitez in July as early results left the Reds in the Premier League's bottom three for several weeks.

Things have picked up in recent weeks but Saturday's defeat at Newcastle did not help.

Hodgson, speaking at a press conference ahead of tomorrow's final Europa League Group K clash at home to FC Utrecht, was quizzed at length about his position at the club.

He became increasingly frustrated at the line of questioning, although he accepted it was something he had become used to during his short time at the club.

"I don't have any fears, worries or concerns,'' he said. "Once again I come here to do a European press conference, playing Utrecht when we are top of the table, and I find myself answering questions about owners and whether I am safe - it is a sad situation.

"I came here to do a European press conference, which I am forced to do for UEFA, when really and truly I am doing a phone-in with you.

"That is the nature of the game, it seems to be the major preoccupation of the mass media because they want to see change.

"It doesn't bother me because I can't do more than I am doing, I can't work harder, I can't work better. I have great confidence in my ability, I don't think there is any reason not to have.

Utrecht coach Ton du Chatinier has urged his players to enjoy themselves in their final Europa League game at Anfield.

The Dutch side cannot qualify for the last 32 and have arrived on Merseyside hoping to give a good account of themselves, having caused the Reds problems in the goalless draw in Holland.

"We want to play a good game because a lot of supporters have come from Holland,'' Du Chatinier told Press Association Sport.

"There are between 3,500-4,000 people because when we qualified for the Europa League and they saw we drew Liverpool they wanted to come over to England.

"For us it is a big game against big names in a very famous stadium. We have a young team and for the players it is nice to play over here against some very big names.''

Sounds like the pressure is starting to show on the old fella. That's a sad bit that I've highlighted right there. Hope the owners read that and show him the door. We sit 8th in the league and he can't do anything more. I think we knew that already Roy.

Can this prick just **** off, seriously his latest press conference is disgraceful and extremely disrespectful to the players.

Really am hoping NESV act soon and I hope that anyone at the match tonight makes the fans views heard.

I should add a disclaimer - that's my version of tomorrows team.

I'd clean forgot about Cole. He will replace Deadly, Dirka, Dirka on the right.

IMO a lot of what was up with Stevie last season could have been nothing more than dissapointment that we SHOULD have but DIDNT win the only trophy he ever wanted as a player.
Im sorry but if I was in Gerrards shoes I would ****ing sulk.
Best points tally in the clubs history, beating some of the best teams in the world in the CL AND the Prem. One of THEE best victorys against UTD at there ground and we STILL cant win the ****ing league. So Yes, Id cut him some slack for a dodgy season. A captain who has given his career to us, A Captain who has dragged us out of so many holes and virtually single handedly won us the CL in 2005. A Captain who turned down lucrative moves to WIN the only thing he ever wanted.
Stevie G will go down as a legend when he finnaly hangs up his boots.
I cant see many slagging off Souey or Kenny back in the day when they had a dodgey season so I dont see the reason to slag Stevie off either.
                          Rant over.

It's very odd given it is a dead rubber. Unless there is some niggle.

In some ways though I would rather him not play if the alternative is for him to be completely dispirited by being played in a front two.
