We had a friend who was supposed to come round from Manchester today. He left very early and got stuck around Oxford services. Apparently his car started skidding and he had to abandon it. He's now trying to book a Travelodge there, poor fella.

They should have called that match off last night. Even down here it's been snowing heavily since around 10.
    Are we winning?

I'm travelling up North today, hope the weather doesn't get too bad. Picking up my new car at 2pm and then travelling 150 miles or so.

Already resigned to the journey being a long one.
      Forwards.......

I'd seriously delay that mate, even the motorways arent gritted or treated, it's carnage, 20mph or so stuff, and that's if you're lucky.

Yep Danny, if I were you, I'd call it off.

That's terrible. If he even manages to find space at a travelodge, they'll probably be putting their prices up.

Just watching Sunderland v Bolton now, and it's ****ed up that the north east, of all places, is somehow snow-free

The ****ing sun is shining up there

I would, but I intended to go up yesterday so already delayed. My car wasn't ready for pick up so had to postpone. I've nothing to do down in London so I may as well make the trip.

Bought the car from a dealer so it's gone through a proper service, new tyres etc so should be good.

Well upto you of course, but it'll be a painful trip for you, and that's if you even make it before they close.

You'll be lucky to do 150 miles in less than 5 hours.

I know the score tbh. I know I'm gonna be pissed off, but I can't be bothered spending another day down South. Especially with all the footy being cancelled, be nothing on the box and it's hardly the weather to go out either

I thought you actually lived down south?

                            A famous postponement

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that today's game against Fulham has been postponed. The decision has been ratified by the Premier League.

A Liverpool spokesman commented: "Club officials met with the Police this morning to assess the prevailing weather conditions.

"The safety of all fans attending the game is paramount and although the Anfield pitch is playable, the conditions around the stadium and further afield for people travelling to the match are such that the decision was taken, following Police advice on safety grounds, to postpone the game.

"All existing tickets will remain valid for the re-arranged fixture. We will also offer refunds and publish a deadline date for refunds once the re-arranged game date is announced, to enable us to re-sell any returned seats to other supporters.

"Any guests who have purchased hospitality for the game are advised to retain their tickets as they will be valid for the new date. We will advise all supporters of the new date as soon as possible."
