So they definitely didn't show? Obviously the cameras never showed them at all - I did wonder.

I think The Bodg should have an open top tour of Liverpool tomorrow whilst snowing really heavy, however he must be wearing a bermuda shirt and shorts, also Poulson should be spraying him with water whilst this is happening. Or do people feel this is a little over the top.
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

Great news, shame he has such an easy run even he couldt **** it up.

He is standing on the edge of the cliff now though for sure.

Roy managed to define irony in the post-match interview: "Utrecht played deep". Hahahahaha.

well not much to say really is there - it was a nothing game, basically a mid season friendly - only positives is, it's an extra game under the belt for kelly wilson shelvey eccleston and pacheco.

Poulsen is shocking though - terrible terrible footballer.

I thought Roy set us up last night as if it was a practise match, preparing the shape for how he wants us to play against better opposition rather than saying Utrect are rubbish so lets get at them and win.

I thought his frustration on the bench was out of us not doing what he wanted rather than not winning the game or creating chances.

Eccleston can go on loan in Jan never to come back, Kelly looked good again, impressed with Wilson, Shelvey was neat and tidy and will continue to improve. Pacheco was lively and should have played from the start.
Cole tried hard but was shocking again, received a text from my 10 year old son just saying "Cole is rubbish isn't he?" Babel and Jovanovich are lazy, complete and utter waste of time.

Poulson, wow Poulson............... I've ran out of ways to describe how poor he is
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Genuine question (didn't watch the match), did it look like any of the young players you mention were gaining anything from the experience?

A lot of people I know have been saying things like 'if nothing else at least Roy is giving young players a chance'. My feeling has generally been though that he isn't giving them a chance to push for a first team place and many of the games have been so low tempo and lacking in bite that I can't see any of the players learning very much. Added to the fact it is usually a complete reserve side that they play in so we gain no knowledge of say whether Wilson complements Skrtel or not.

Poulsen had a spell in the first half when he gave the ball away seven consecutive times. His passing is abominable, he takes up rubbish positions, offers zero protection to the back four and people go past him with ease. He should never play for us again.

well two ways of looking at it...

yes - i am sure, just purely the game the time in a 'competitive' match at anfield will help the nerves and confidence for them.....but in terms of say learning anything then maybe not - i have said it before....but i don't think we can judge these lads until we see them playing in a 'good' team with the likes of carragher, meireles, gerrard, torres around them - doesn't matter how much potential say shelvey has, when he is playing alongside poulsen, jovanovic, babel etc it's going to be difficult

but yeah - i think it will help them - at that age, they all would have had butterflies in the stomach before kick off....so it's good to get them the game time....put it this way - if later on in the season, we need shelvey to start a league match - i'll be much happier about it knowing he has already played a handful of games in europe etc

but - don't ask too much about the match - it was on, but i was playing poker on my iphone at the same time and it was getting quite tense

there was an atrocious attempt of a well a long ball or switch the play to toward the left wing, were, in space, in their half, he took a touch and just seemed to put his thought through it - iirc, eccleston chased it down and may have rescused a throw in from it

I've always said Diao was the worst LFC player I'd ever seen but you're right, Diao had a blockbuster tackle in him, scored a couple of goals. He was better than Poulsen...which, I suppose, makes Poulsen my worst ever LFC player. Haha.
