Just to bring how **** we are back into focus we're only 4 points above the relegation zone.

    4 ****ing points.

    Hodgson out

It's fine. We'll pick up 3 points tomorrow and sail into the top half. Nobody could do better than the King of the LMA.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Still terrible, but we do have two games in hand on most teams below us. Man City are top. If we won our games in hand we'd be 7 points off them.
        Forwards.......

Doesn't really matter, we ain't going to get more points than them on the 2nd half of the season. Or more than manure, arsenal or spurs. Top 6 max, thanks for that and for my almost total loss of interest in football bodge.

Empire of the kop author suggesting this as his preferred starting X1 For this home match I'd rest Lucas and have Maxi on the left, Kuyt right and Gerrard and Raul central. Ngog and Torres up front.

                My ideal starting XI:
Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Sotiris Kyrgiakos, Fabio Aurelio, Lucas Leiva, Raul Meireles, Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt, David Ngog, Fernando Torres
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

We'll beat them 2 or 3 nil but we still have a ****load of problems that need addressing.

I do like that back line, admittedly.

But I ****ing hate 4-4-2. We don't have the players for it and 4-2-3-1 has served us well for the last three or four years.

I've no problem with us playing 442 when the right players are signed, in fact I'd welcome it, although not all the time. Playing 442 without any wingers is a ridiculous idea though

Well yeah, 4-4-2 with Ribery on one flank and Robben on the other would be fine

But Kuyt, Maxi, Cole, Babel and Jovanovic aren't wingers in any way, shape or form.

4-2-3-1 means we get to play everyone in their best positions - Lucas and Meireles holding, Gerrard behind Torres, and two of Kuyt, Cole, Maxi, Jovanovic and Babel out wide.

Why do we need 2 holding mids against the bottom side at home. I just don't get that. There's no width at all with 4231 either. Give me 442 at home with the personnel we have at present.

Who would you play as the two wide men SB?

442 is not more attacking than 4231 and 4231 can offer just as much width when correctly implemented. Importantly it is a far more flexible system and can easily switch to 433 or 451 depending on circumstance.

Those 2 would still work better in 4231
