In a way, I find all this amusing. If I wasn't a Liverpool fc fan I'd likely be in stiches. This great gentleman of English football finally being given the big job he has dreamt of all his life. His revolutionary 1970's tactics blowing the opposition away as Liverpool charged into midtable safety. A big **** you to all those that doubted him and a glass of sherry for him and the LMA to celebrate the new year as his success showed that English managers were once again at the very pinnacle of the game.

My word, all this makes me want to stand up and shout "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN"
If only I could tweet this...

they say pride comes before a fall. I don't know who "they" are but they were dead right if they had Hodgson in mind.

He's too proud to walk and I 100% believe that HE still thinks that HE is the right man for the job.
        Forwards.......

And I believe that he still thinks none of this is his fault
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Here's the video of the press conference.

Don't let the hang dog expression and remorseful eye-twinkling fool you. My take on todays Roy interview is that he is trying some classic back tracking and short term historical revisionism, add in a few ambiguous statements and nobody is any the wiser as to why we needed the press conference in the first place.

We were under no illusion as to what he said after the Wolves game, his comments were clear and didn't really need another ****ing Press Conference to explain (re-position), there was no mixed message. Quite simply he was saying that if we the supporters kept off his back and instead supported the team, it would certainly help him to do his job. Of course it would Roy old chap... only, the reason people are on your back is because you are utterly incapable of doing your job well. You can't have it both ways sunshine. You can't blame everyone else for the lingering stench in the room, sooner or later you have to hold your hand up and admit you farted.

He is far to busy trying to say the right thing, thinking his superior intellect will hoodwink us less intelligent and inferior mortals, to ever just be straight forward and honest. What he said on Wednesday was how he felt. Thats fair enough. Now he is trying to back track, as he has no doubt realised calling your teams supporters cunts isn't going to get them chanting your name fromthe Kop all that quickly.

He is trying to dig his way out of the hole he has been slowly digging himsels and is then expressing surprise as he finds himself deeper and deeper in it. I will await until his next press conference (he will no doubt slip a couple in before the New Year) to hear his latest back tracking on what he said in this one.

            A good man, a nice man? I couldn't give a **** really.

I hope the new owners really look at what has happened to Roy and try to avoid throwing someone else into the same mess which could just as easily destroy them.

I hear fans talking about villa boas, owen Coyle but Liverpool need a mamanger with more expereince at a higher level that can ride the initial few months and that has some personality to get him through the tough times.

Rafa understood this and often hid his own failing behind his rapour with the fans. Every single interview he mentioned the special fans.

Roy didnt have the charisma to carry this off unfortunately for him (fortunately for LFC;-)) and it will not be difficult to move him on.

I genuinely feel sorry for Roy as he is a good guy, genuine and honest and he has endured a horrendous six months because Dalglish didnt get the job and because he didnt inspire hope with the majority of Liverpool fans.

I for one was gutted when he was named, but was prepared to give him a chance however my charity ran out pretty quickly, around October with a series of poor results. I suggested at that time he should be given 5 games to score 10 points. It was a disaster and he should have been fired over month ago.

I am guessing that the owners have no doubt that Roy should leave, but maybe just maybe they are awaiting a CEO to perform the act.

Good luck for the future Roy
The squad is no where near as bad as being made out by some, what we need is a forward thinking manager who knows how the game is played in the modern day. How can you have players such as Gerrard, Torres, Reina, Agger, Cole, Johnson, Meireles and Lucas and still play rubbish hoofball?
Either everyone of our players is crap or the manager doesn't know what the **** he's doing. I'd go for the latter, and that is why the fans will never take to him, neither will the players.

5europeancups in "trying to be controversial/attention seeking" shocker. This is the same guy who supported Gillett and Hicks, after all.
