I wouldn't have ruled it out completely but still it would have been unlikely.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostI think this season we could well have challenged for a top 4 place had we not had that buffoon in charge.
I just think we're about 3 or 4 first team players short then another few on top of that to come in when required. There's too much deadwood about too and if that deadwood was replaced with good players you'd see a far better team.

If we had just beaten Wolves, Sunderland and Blackpool at Anfield (let alone improved on Hodgson's dire away record of just ONE win) - we would currently be 3 points off 4th place, and with a game in hand.
Is the idea of us winning at home, against Wolves, Sunderland and Blackpool really 'unlikely' ?
Not under a proper manager, it isnt.

In fact, if we had just won 2 more away games (say, Wigan and Stoke - which we SHOULD be looking to win), we would currently be just 2 points behind Arsenal, with a game in hand and 4 points behind City, with 2 games in hand on them.
Given how poor the league has been this season, i'd even suggest that a proper manager would even have had us challenging for the title this season, let alone the top four.

frightening just how poor we've been this season when you put it into context.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostIn fact, if we had just won 2 more away games (say, Wigan and Stoke - which we SHOULD be looking to win), we would currently be just 2 points behind Arsenal, with a game in hand and 4 points behind City, with 2 games in hand on them.

H&G parting gift to the club was Hodgson, sneaky ****ers

Zabaletta is not good enough for Liverpool if he can't get in the Man City team. And the only way we'd get him is if he can't get in the Man City team.Originally posted by Rudo View PostDon't want to bang on about this topic but yeah i'd also agree that putting 4 new players straight into the first team is bit of an overhaul.
Oh and the tit who laughed off my suggestion that Zabelta is a player we could go for it, quite clearly knows nothing about football because he's a very good player.Forwards.......

The Liverpool squad should finish 6th or higher as things stand. If key players are fit and on form then could easily challenge strongly for top 4. But we want to win it so we need some top class players to come in.Originally posted by Rudo View PostLove you're reasoning there Nige.
Well actually maybe this Liverpool squad doesn't need any changes whatsoever...if the aim is to finish between 6th and 10th every season.
Whilst we need a squad player to cover for Torres, every other player that comes in IMO should either be a first team starter or one of the young lads for the future.Forwards.......

That's **** logic danny.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostZabaletta is not good enough for Liverpool if he can't get in the Man City team. And the only way we'd get him is if he can't get in the Man City team.
It completely ignores the fact that some clubs are stronger in some areas, and weaker in others.

If we want to win the league we need players that are better than our rivals. Or at least as close as we can.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThat's **** logic danny.

Zabaletta is a decent player but he's nothing special. Why should we be looking to sign Citys cast offs who haven't done it for them? If he was that good they'd be keeping him. I think he's a decent back up player for a squad and as such I don't think he'll leave City anyways. But I wouldn't sign him for our first team, which is where we should be looking, along with promising future stars.
I did word what I meant wrong though. I went for a quick explanation which obviously had flaws to it. Should have known that wouldn't have been good enough on this site
At the end of the day If City signed Messi and Ronaldo and decided to let David Silva go, I would of course gladly take him off their hands.
What I don't want is players who have proved to be average to good, be that through ability or questionable desire or work rate. City's squad is full to the brim with these types of players.Forwards.......

I'm not saying anything about Zabaleta specifically, but the whole 'he doesnt get into their side so he isnt good enough for ours' logic is nonsense IMO.
Some clubs have huge strength in one area, while others dont. For example, taking Man City, Adam Johnson probably wont get into their side too often now, what with Dzeko/Tevez/Balotelli/Silva all vying for a place in their 3-pronged attack - that doesnt mean, just because Johnson isnt 'good enough' to get into their team, that he wouldnt get in ours - because obviously he would.

you buy players that fit into your system, there is nothing to say a player that doesn't work out for a rival or is seen as lower down the pecking order can't be a better player in our side.
