If we play anything like that for the rest of the season we'll fly up that league.

10 men for most of the match, with it being our talisman Gerrard that was sent off. A dodgy penalty decision against us and we still only lost it by a goal at OT. All things considered we did well.
This team lost to Blackburn and Blackpool not to long ago so this is one massive improvement. Football is going to be good to watch again."That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.
Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

Originally posted by Kenneth View PostHappy with that overall. Some nice play, lots of fight, a moral clean sheet. No gerrard for three games, but mayb that's not too bad a thing. Kelly was boss. All of the back four were decent. Torres was dire, but as I said, happy with that.

You know what, I'm ****ing delighted by that performance. There is no doubt in my mind if that match played out like that last week we would have crumbled to a bad hiding. Despite playing 12 men we looked the better side for large periods.
Much better pressing and a higher line up the pitch. If some of those players can keep consistent performances like that (skrtel, Kelly) and keep fit (Aurellio, Agger) then the first 11 starts to look a lot brighter.
Kelly should keep the jersey for the next game. He put in a MOTM performance for me today and doesn't deserve to be dropped after that. The only big disappointment (other then the obvious result) will be the impending suspension for Gerrard.
My love for the game is back.

Whatever, it's only the cup. What a positive display, everyone just playing that much more relaxed and confident, great to see the effect of Kenny's presence. Can't wait for Wednesday, and Kenny having had a few days to settle in and do some training with the lads.
Unlucky about Gerrard, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles all the time at OT, it's a ****e stadium full of ****e cunts and I'm glad it's over. Thank **** we've got Kenny in, it's only upwards from here. You can see the players are enjoying themselves.

Very encouraged by that.
We were undone by a dodgy penalty decision and a moment of stupidity from our captain. We looked very comfortable for long stretches with 10 men. Kelly was immense.
Torres remains a worry. Gave us no outlet to relieve the pressure. He was slow to react, second to everything, and knocked off the ball too easily.
Merieles also showed a worrying lack of bottle for the fight, but may have just had an off day.
Plenty of reasons for optimism though.A humble guy with healthy desire.
