The interchanging in midfield was encouraging in the first 20 minutes. Amazing really that having been shackled to rigid positions in a 442 formation for 6 months Kenny could get the team more fluid and flexible without, as you've pointed out, even taking a training session.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI think it started 4-1-4-1
But then changed to 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1
You could see it was designed to get Gerrard on the ball but he also had to fill in a little more than Rafa asked him to
He was definitely given instruction to get back into a position when they had the ball
Intriguing really
I am very optimistic watching how we lined up / set up and the general tone of tactics
Lots of encouragement to move up the pitch (from Agger AND Gerrard) and far more pressure on the opposition higher up the pitch
Kenny hasnt taken a training session yet and the basics were there often enough
Even more hilarious is that Hodgkinson employed Mike Kelly as his number 2 despite the fact that Steve Clarke's been available for the past 6 monthsA lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

They're not all like that at The Times. Tony Barrett: "It would take something out of the ordinary to dare to suggest that there were..."

"...positives for #LFC to take from such a damaging defeat. The manner in which they played, though - with defensive organisation back..."

"...and possession of the football again cherished after six months in which route-one play was used far too often - indicated..."

"...a return to the kind of approach for which the club are famed."

Tony B also says there was "ample evidence" #LFC now have a boss that's "prepared to manage", he cites Nando being subbed as an example.

Subbing Torres was "the kind of decision that Hodgson had shied away from as he lost his grip on the team and events." (Tony Barrett)

One last bit from Tony: "This one seemingly innocuous event suggested that Dalglish has what it takes to make the decisions that matter."Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Agreed. Also loved the way he applauded Torres and made sure he knew he was happy with him. I've never seen Torres accepting being substituted so readily. Now that's man managment!Originally posted by Lecter View PostJimBoardman Jim Boardman

That's the respect Dalglish commands from the players, this is what we've needed for a long time. I wasn't sure if bringing Kenny back was a good idea, but I thought he was magnificent. That passion is priceless, it will inspire us to greater things this season.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostAgreed.
