I'm praying that's true. Not that I particularly want Thommo back. He's a legend but IMO he's a handclapper. No, I want him back cos it'll put to bed any talk/rumours that Carra is to be promoted to the coaching staff.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

        Clarke: I couldn't say no

Steve Clarke today told Liverpoolfc.tv of his pride and excitement at being appointed first-team coach under Kenny Dalglish.

Clarke, who played over 500 senior games for St Mirren and Chelsea, brings with him considerable experience as assistant boss at Newcastle United, West Ham United and most notably at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho.

After his appointment was announced on this website earlier today, Clarke told us: "I was sat at home doing nothing and now I've got the chance of working with a football great in Kenny Dalglish and also working for one of the world's leading football clubs. This was something I couldn't turn down.

"I am grateful for everybody who has given me such a warm welcome, especially all those here at Melwood.

"I am really looking forward to working with Kenny and the rest of the staff to help bring good times back to the club."

How long is his contract? Is it just until the summer or more long term? Perhaps suggesting the new long term manager has been chosen
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think Carra may still get some kind of gig, but it'll only be a small part to tide him along.

Sammy Lee used to coach for England and was very highly thought of. Whether that was due to him bridging the gap between manager and players, or for other reasons I don't know.

I know people slate Sammy, but he was part of the staff when we came second. I agree with most, not a number two, but definitely someone we should look at keeping.

I wonder what were Kenny's relationship with the senior players prior to taking on this job. I bet he was distant enough so as not jeopardise any strong decisions he'll need to take, like for example telling Carra he should resign himself into sitting on the bench on a regular basis. If we can keep Agger fit, there's absolutely no reason that Carra walks straight back into the team, even into Skrtel's place.
                Are we winning?

He'll not play people because there his mates if that's what you're worried about. He'll play the best team available to him. If he thinks that's Carra, he'll play. If he doesn't, Carra wont play.

Long term he could be groomed as the next manager

That would be very under whelming. Especially if it was as soon this summer.

It does not have to be a soon as the summer, I am talking longer term. Say for instance Kenny does the job for approx 3 years. He would be well placed to take over than, just like it used to happen in our halcyon years

I'd still be very unsure tbh. I'd prefer a manager who's cut his teeth elsewhere so to speak.
