rafa did indeed which gives me optimism that our next manager if its not the king, will be interviewed with that in mind. actually when you think of what NESV are looking for, a longterm manager with likely a good amount of time to impart their vision of how the club moves forward on the pitch, is very attractive to any ambitious manager. Effectively their giving the new guy time which in this crazy football world is priceless.

The old "inherited a difficult situation from Benitez" card again. I think I'd lose interest again if MFON took over.

I've heard both Jamie Redknapp and Aldridge vigorously claim Houllier "inherited a very good squad from Martin O'Neill". Obviously they both absolve Hodgson at LFC and blame it all on Benitez for the **** squad he left.

Villa finished 1 point ahead of us, although we had a better goal difference by +13 - yet one squad was very good and the other was ****.

And that's before you factor in the bulk of our squad finished 2nd with 86 points the season prior.
