I think we need to accept that there are no god given rights in sport. We also need to recognise that every weekend, the football pitches of England are littered with teams that had a glorious period but are now nothings. We are in danger of being added to that list.
In my view Rafa was in some ways building the Club back towards our previous glory days, but at the same time something was being destroyed. And around him G&H were demolishing things. The wheels came off the team in 2009/2010, and suddenly we are facing a major disaster. To argue that this is essentailly the same team, minus a couple of mifielders, who should have won the league in 2008/2009 is to miss the point. To proclaim with pride that We are Liverpool is worthy, but is not a solution. A total rebuild is necessary.
The first step on that rode had to be to replace owners who were destroying the Club with owners who, at the very least, will help the Club to rebuild. That meant selling the Club, and so that the money men could present numbers that were stable and suject to considerable uncertainty, that meant getting rid of Rafa. Personally, I thought Rafa was also becoming part of the problem - another reason why he had to be removed. Anyway, he is gone now and we need to stop pretending he will back anytime soon. Such thoughts are divisive and stop us moving forward.
We needed a manager who would not need to spend money and could get more out of the existing players. Hodgson fitted that description, so another tick. But turned out not to be the man. Getting rid of him quickly was therefore essential. Tick.
Purslow was a menace; a football fan left in charge of buying and selling. He had to go. Done.
I love Kenny, but have no idea whether he can manage this Club back to success. However, unless he was given the chance he would hang over the club like a ghost. So he had to be given a chance. And what the players need is to be uplifted and he can do that quickly. So he was the obvious candidate to take over from Hodgson. By bringing him to the end of the season we have the chance to find out whether he still has what it takes. So that's what has been done.
The focus now shifts to the pitch. Although most of the first 11 are the players who took us to second place just a few years ago, that first 11 is now the envy of no-one. And the rest of the first team sqaud is weak. My guess is that we need probably to change about 70% of that squad. That is a job for a permanent manager. Nevertheless, things are still so tight in the league that a bit of strengthening would not only save us from relegation but could grab us a Europa Cup place. So that is what we need to do now. I hope I will soon be putting a tick here as well.
So what does that mean? Well, in this transfer window it means strenthening the first team and not selling any of the players who lose their place. We need to be better offensively, we need a bit of steel in midfield, and we need a left back who can stay fit.

Agree with all of that.
